Prednisolone and heartburn

I have been on courses of prednisolone about once a year for decades without any problem. About a year ago a course of prednisolone was followed by heartburn that took several weeks to clear up. Has anyone else experienced heartburn after taking prednisolone ?

Yes, I do. I take ranitidine which sorts it out well. Maybe talk to your GP?

Yes, it's a pain in the butt! The same thing happened to me. I was fine for years and then about 20 years ago I started with the heartburn. These days whenever I get prescribed steroids I ask for a course of omeprazole. You take it daily and it does help. The timing of taking steroids is also important to help reduce the heartburn. I was recommended ginger tea in this forum which is also pretty good. Few slices in boiled water. This also helps.

Reflux is a known side effect of oral steroids.
