Prednisolone and tiredness

Does anyone else get severe fatigue on prednisolone? I'm struggling a lot with it, even at my usual dose of 10mg it's bad. I don't understand it!

I haven't taken prednisolone for quite some time, but I suffer from terrible tiredness especially when I wake in the morning. Hardly ever have unbroken sleep. Doctors have never been able to diagnose why....

I think if the fatigue is affecting your quality of life you should discuss it with your doctor, especially if it's something you experience on waking. Your doctor may want to test your adrenal levels to rule out any deficiency, especially if you're on Pred long term, but also to rule out things like sleep apnea, which can cause tiredness and other health problems. Take care Floating.

Will do, thank you. Have actually already had a sleep study, and I assume it came out fine. No deficiencies either currently (afaik), I am on a lot of prescription strength supplements (vitamin D, iron, thiamine, vitamin B compound strong...etc.), so should be fine. I guess it could be adrenals, I'm on long term pred. currently at 50mg due to the exacerbation, normally at 10mg.

Will see if I can hold out til my respiratory consultant appointment!

Yes I was on this medication in the summer and had so many side effects including wanting to go to bed an hour after I woke up as well as weakness … not nice but they did the trick after a week!

The only time I was tired on prednisone was when I had omicron last month. Usually it gives me tons of energy. I was recovering from pneumonia and thought it was from that, but as time went on, I realized it was a mild case of omicron. The fatigue was the major symptom, and it was crushing. It may be something to consider. Take good care of yourself. 😀

No COVID-19 here. It's complicated!! Hope you're doing okay.

Update, one of the GPs at the surgery has referred me to endocrinology due to possible Addison's based on symptoms I had pre-prednisolone usage. So basically I might have Addison's or SAI, hopefully neither though!
