what free exercise do you do?

Hi,

I was taking a daily walk as part of my exercise regime (as well as swimming). However, the pollen has put a stop to this.

I’m trying to find some, free, exercises I can do in my house that’s not aerobic. I was thinking about tai chi on YouTube. But then I got a bit lost, there is so much out there!!

Does anyone have any suggestions for any sort of, non aerobic, excercise I can do with YouTube, or something similar?

Yoga with Adriene on You tube is very good and she has lots of free classes. I also have functional training routine I do at home. I do have hand weights, and exercise ball and some stretch bands. But there are tons of exercises you can do even without these. I find the key is to put away half an hour at the beginning of the day to do them. I mix up yoga, Pilates and strength. In the end the key is consistency, every day. xx

I exercise both outdoors and indoors while wearing a respirator. When the pollen is high, there is no escape from it even indoors, unless I wear breathing protection. Also, indoors there can be dust mites.

I agree there’s no escape, I hope you manage to stay cool

I also love love love yoga with Adriene. I do the beginners routine once a week it’s a 20 minute one she has lots of videos but the one I really liked was from quite a while ago it’s got loads of views.

I think it makes a huge difference to the way I feel and if I ever miss it I know I find it very relaxing.

it’s brilliant the one I use is from 9 years ago with 12m views but she does have a few beginners ones.

Good morning. Not sure of your health problems but on Pulmonary rehabilitation course you can do sit to stand exercises to keep your lungs going. Used to do 3 sets of 15 sit to stand. And step ups onto a step. The same amount of repetitions. Or try YouTube for Pulmonary rehab exercises. Good luck. Make sure you drink enough in the heat. Brian

I've found any pilates, yoga and exercise routines 'for seniors' suitable for me. Even Joe Wickes exercise for seniors is 10 minutes or 20 if you repeat. Loads of videos on youtube so you can pick out your favourites. The are also exercise for lung patients too which include Pulmonary Rehabilitation type exercises. When the Lung Conditions Forum was the BLF (British Lung Foundation) there were CDs available, they were/are brilliant.
