Feeling so sick and tired which is from the lack of sleep & rough week. But the pred is making me feel so sick. Not acid sick but no appetite/ nauseated feeling.

Has anyone tried anything to help?

Sorry to hear you’re not feeling well

Eating little and often if you can. Anything you fancy if you’re really off food (the other day for me it was a craving for cold McDonald’s chips... don’t ask me why - I promise I’m not pregnant!😂).

For me a orange and ginger beer (no alcoholic!) drink mix can help calm the nausea and sometimes stimulates appetite. Or ‘gingerbread’ green tea if I’m cold 😅.

I get frustrated when on high pred cause I’m either feeling sick or a bottomless pit when it comes to food 😒

Thank you! I know what you mean about McDonald’s chips tho it must be the salt craving when feeling rubbish! Hopefully a bit more sleep and my appetite returns; here’s hoping!

Pred has a terrible effect on me. But after many years and many courses I have become a bit better at dealing with it.

These are my top tips!

1) if you can’t sleep, go with the flow, get up bake, do a jigsaw, watch that girlie film your husband/ partner didn’t want to watch. Embrace the night hours rather than fight them.

2) recognize that you are unwell, cut yourself some slack. Have a daytime nap if you can.

3) don’t worry about eating. Some people get steroid munchies, others don’t eat. I lose weight on steroids or at least after I stop.

3) If you feel seriously mad! I do sometimes go back to your GP ASAP. Steroids save lives, definitely have saved mine, but still can make you feel suicidal. So you have to tell your doc.

4) keep a hold of the fact of however horrible this medicine is it is a wonder drug and will save your life.

So that’s my steroid lecture.

You will come out the other side, count your blessings that steroids are available

Best

Thank you!

Thankfully this time the pred isn’t keeping me up as such, as I’m that exhausted, but it’s either my asthma waking me up or being wide awake at 6am!

I know I need to start recognising to take a break. I just hate giving in to it 😩

Thank you for all the tips 😀

If I have to take them I set up my bedside table with a drink, some crackers and the prednisone. I set my alarm for 4am and sit up and take them. Have a quick nibble them bk to sleep. I do this to try and avoid the night time wakefulness.

Thanks everyone, I slept a little better. It’s just concerning that it’s not through trying. It’s more waking up/ not sleeping through symptoms & not through pred keeping me up as I’ve experienced those sleepless nights in the past!

If I have 50mg for a wk or less I experienced terrible central nervous system side effects. My internals feel like they’re on fire, I feel like I’m falling all the time, even when I’m laying down to sleep. I have terrible bowel spasms and I really feel agitated. My side effects are so bad that a doctor once said to me, “these drugs will help you get better....if you don’t take them you’ll end up in a wooden box”....I quickly replied “if I have to take theses meds again I will put myself in that wooden box!!!”

Dear Lotti_321- Are You Talking About Prednisolone? As There Are More Than One Kind, I’ve Been on the Red Shiny Coated Ones & the White Uncoated Ones and I Alway’s Seem To Fare Better Taking Coated Meds as Opposed To Uncoated Ones as the Coating Seems To Protect My Throat & Also My Stomach is not irritated by Them, Like the Uncoated Ones! Hope This Helps?
