Great that you are getting out, so just take it very slow, and treat yourself.

My exit has been stopped as I had a massive coughing fit and peak flow plummeted at lunchtime. Reliever, neubs and more oxygen. Then at 4 more reliever and neubs. Talking has made me a bit breathless so taking it easy. Roll on tomorrow.

Last time I was in hospital I took up drawing, a nurse obtained paper and a biro for me, and I spent a happy working out how to draw things.

Hope you are home by now, and things settling down. It is always such a joy to get home to your own bed and bathroom!

Hope you have someone to shop and make hot meals for you, as that really helps when you’re recovering. Fresh air at a window, door or garden until things are clearing, you feel stronger and it’s not so cold. Keep warm, but not over heated.

Make sure your posture is good at all times. This really helps with breathing. You’ll be tense, stiff and sore from straining to breathe and all your coughing, so vital that you find strategies to calm your breathing and focus on relaxing all those tired muscles, whether that be things like your “box breathing” or mindfulness or guided meditation - lots of videos on YouTube for that - gentle yoga or something that makes you “body aware” ….. whatever works for you.

Also, having a “quiet” hobby like drawing, even colouring in books, reading or something that is going to take your focus off being unwell, but isn’t going to be be bad for your posture and make your muscles tense up, as tension causes bad breathing patterns.

Keep your talking to a minimum just now. Text folk instead of phoning them, and explain you can’t talk much until you’re feeling better. Even write a a note to someone in the house. Talking uses up energy. You need all yours for getting better.

Anything that can take your mind off your symptoms just now, that benefits you both mentally and physically, is going to help towards a quicker recovery, and hopefully discover more strategies on ways to cope when you get exacerbations.

Currently, I am fighting off a chest infection at home, first in 4 years, and feeling all the awful side effects of the drug combo! Sadly, others stopped taking precautions and I got sneezed and coughed all over! I envy your peak flow, as my normal has been between 130 - 150 for many years now, but I don’t require oxygen, and can enjoy a singing for breathing group and going to the gym in spring, summer and early autumn months. Gym in winter is a No No for obvious germ spreading reasons, as are many other activities I’d love to do!

Get Well Soon and hope you manage to keep well over the rest of this winter. You don’t want to end up in hospital again! 😷 👍 😊

Oh dear, I noticed above that your escape has been stopped - just thank goodness you were already in hospital! When you do get out the temperature will be a bit of a shock for your lungs after hospital heating, i hooe you've got something to cover your nose and mouth, someone to meet you and someone to put the heating on in your home before you finally get there, hot water bottle or electric blanket on in your bed

Order in some ready meals if you can or get someone to get some for you. Vitamins/minerals &/or tonics to help rebuild your immune system, warn visitors to keep their bugs away, plenty of warm drinks and copious TLC.

Best of British for recovery, in my experience it takes quite a while to get back to your normal flowers 💐 💐 💐

great news! Wrap up warm especially back , chest, neck, throat and something across mouth and nose to protect your throat and lungs from the cold air. Lots of rest when you get home. Keep warm. Best wishes.

Freedom definitely beckons today. Oxygen levels at 99% on 2L at ob check this morning at 3am. So they will reduce down my oxygen again to 1L then 0 and I am sure my body will tolerate it (2nd attempt from Friday).

Felt very cared and very safe all hospital staff. Not a trip I attend to repeat ever. Learnt lots about pneumonia and asthma and me.

I have a bunch of appointments from the respiratory department in January. Breathing challenge test, chest xray appointment with one of the consultants.

So at some point this morning I will be out of here!

Make sure they let you walk about a bit before they release you.

I can see that would be wised. I just talked to my doctors who said walking 100m would be enough for me (when I get out) . Plan for today is monitored reduction of oxygen. Then no oxygen and no neubs I be free to go. So not today...
