Has anybody had Reslizumab intravenous therapy , I have discontinued mepolizamab due to severe pains in both my arms, doc wants to put me on Reslizumab but I think I’m going to decline as I’ve already tried Xolair , kinds of had enough of all the side affects. Now

Hi

Not been on it personally, but spoke to someone who had been on mepo, but like you got very bad aches/pains and got switched to reslizumab. She said it’s the best thing she’d ever done - much better asthma control, very little (if any) side effects...

If you’re put forward for it I’d give it a try... it’s better to try and decide no because of actual side effects, then say no without trying due to potential side effects.

Xolair works on something completely different too (IgE rather than eosinophils) so it’s a different mechanism. It’s just annoying as it seems to take ages getting the right meds for you. (I’ve just switched from xolair to mepo, hoping this will be the right one for me, or else it’ll be months before we can decide it isn’t 😒)

Hope that helps, and that if you do give it a try that it works well for you!

PLEASE give it a try! I’m on MEPOLIZUMAB.. I’ve had 19 now & sadly I’m already having to increase steroids again as it’s Met it’s match with me. No side effects other than the utter utter exhaustion but Prof says they may well put me into Reslizumab as it may be more effective longterm.

All these drugs have different side effects, & of course we certainly don’t get all the ones listed on the paperwork remember but they are obliged by law to list the lot..

Definitely give it a go. If you should get nasty side effects that aren’t easily controlled, you can always stop it.

Don’t take the risk of having such terrible asthma with no drug to control it!!

Bestest wishes!

Rose

What worries me that all these treatments are so new that we don’t know the long term side affects to them all. The Res has only been on the market a year here. I don’t just have asthma I have bronchiectatsis too so will probably little benefit in lung function but since starting mep my lung function has gone down , basically gel like a guinea pig lol
