Just found out today that my gp has decided without telling to change my sertide to Sirdupla even tho only last month I told the other gp that I only want sertide & she made sure the sertide brand was on my repeat instead of the generic one , Iāve been taking sertide for over 15 years or so & the generic ones make me feel sick etc but this other gp just wonāt seem to budge on keeping sertide Iāve seen online that a lot of people have problems with Sirdupla which I told my gp & he told me that was all lies & thereās nothing wrong with it, obviously he doesnāt have asthma & have to take these inhalers š & to top it off not only he messes with my asthma medication he tells me that he wants me to stop taking my nortriptyline which I take for my tmj jaw disorder which also helps my chronic migraines without that medication my jaw will start becoming painful again it was the medication after non medication that the hospital tried that stopped the pain as it relaxed the muscles š saying it causes cardiac problems but Iāve been on it for over 3 years tho, then the gp had the cheek to tell me the pregabalin Iām on was too low dose but I said the other gp said to take 3 a day but if it affects me then cut down to 2 a day which I did as it makes me really tired & the gp was like āohā š if itās not the gpās being useless itās the receptionistās , Iāve booked appointment with a different doctor for Friday hopefully she can sort it out as sheās the one that made sure I got sertide before & the only gp that seems normal & easy to talk to , has this happened to anyone else?

Hope you can get this all sorted, mand82. I think thereās a move on to save NHS money....which is understandable but not if our health is compromised.
Iāve just tried Sereflo under the same heading, to replace my Seretide 250. Didnāt work, my asthma āon the edgeā all the time, then excruciating headaches. Iām back on Seretide now and life is much better!
Hope your wiser GP helps on Friday. NICE guidelines for medical staff do say the patient can have a medication reinstated if you ask, so do ASK.....!
Youāve had so many changes though to your medication, all at once, Iām sure youāre really worried. Good luck....it will change back, Iām sure, but takes energy, I know š
Iāve been on sertide 250 for years as serevent wasnāt helping anymore and was put on Spiriva in 2014 after my pe as my breathing got worse , the doctors at the surgery are so useless they have taken weeks to do my prescriptions as they have forgotten, forgotten certain medications from the prescription, put the wrong medication down that Iāve never even taken & put the wrong dose like ātake 20mls 3 times a day from a 20ml bottleā š

It must be driving the good doctor mad too, working with these incompetents! Perhaps you should consider a change of surgery, unless you can bank on seeing the best doctor only? Itās so important that we have confidence in our GPs.

Canāt change surgeryās as this surgery is the only one in my catchment area so the other ones wonāt acc me on their lists as Iāve tried tons of times, whenever Iāve need to see the doctor at my surgery Iāve always book online and choose the same doctor as Iām seeing Friday even if it means waiting a few days to be seen to, the doctor who rang was the duty doctor at the time and apparently is my doctor
Oh dear, youāll just have to continue to play the system, then, as best you can. What a nuisance for you.
Btw Iāve never had the doctor I usually see as my named doctor....I think they allocate us to them on a mathematical basis...so not much different there.
Hi, sorry to hear you're having problems. Yes I've had the full quota. Pharmacist changing inhalers without consulting. Asthma nurse changing inhalers without consulting. Receptionist blocking repeat of ventolin. I've had to fight all the way to stay on a regime that keeps me on the straight and narrow. Really, as if any of us need this extra grief. Suspect its budget related but it isn't saving money if we end up in hospital is it ? Hope you manage to sort it. Try writing to the practice manager spelling out exactly why we need to stick to a regime that works. Its an illness that can strike without warning which makes it all the more important the patient has a modicum of control over treatment without being banjaxed by so called health professionals. Hope you get it sorted.

If she allows that antipathy to affect her judgement in her professional work she doesnāt deserve to be a practice manager. She certainly would be very unwise to do so.
You should still write. If they decide against you and things go downhill you will at least have it in writing that you tried to warn them should you choose to make an official complaint.
Yeah but sheās a bit of a gossip in the neighbourhood & if I write to her at the surgery she will gossip with the other neighbours about my business etc & thatās the last thing I want š if I want that Iāll shout out of my door myself , but I will see what the other doctor says on Friday before I do anything else
As far as your medical records go (and a letter of this nature would be part of them) sheās not allowed to gossip. That would be considered a breach of patient confidentiality.
I doubt that would stop her tho, if I donāt get anywhere with the doctor on Friday Iāll take it up with the pct
I have been changed from Seretide 250 to the cheaper alternative Sirdupla a few months ago and havenāt noticed any difference. Have checked the active ingredients both the broncilator and the steroid components are exactly the same . Canāt understand how anyone has had a bad reaction.
Itās not usually the active ingredients that cause the issue, itās the additional things. For example sirdupla has (anhydrous) ethanol in it, whereas Seretide doesnāt. This is whatās probably giving people grief.

Sorry youāve been having problems. I was changed from Seretide to AirFluSal and was a bit rattly at first. Chest has settled a bit but I do feel a bit more wheezy than I was.
I was also changed from Asacol to Octasa (bowel probs). Worst of all is not being able to get Liothyronine at all. I have been hypothyroid for 32 years and have never been very well since. Endo tried me on the medication and I have been feeling the best I have been for years. Today it looks like GP has cancelled the repeat prescription. I need to see her!
As NHS becomes more starved of funds, clearly more medicines will be denied or replaced. They are already saying Brexit will cause difficulties with supply.

Saw the other doctor yesterday she said every so often they get alerts about drugs that have been found during research etc that get sent to doctors about side effects & medication interaction & recommend to change or stop the medication if needed, but I told her Iāve been on my medication for years & had no problems and donāt want to come off those brands & she put me back on them she did say she would put them back on my repeat but I checked & she hasnāt but I can still order them under recent medication, Iām just glad I can get my nortriptyline & sertide back
