Home administration of Mepo

Great news, I was asked to fill a form in at clinic today to see whether I would like to be considered for home administration of Mepo. Initially this would be by a district nurse and all being well I would eventually be able to do it myself. This would be amazing for me and give me a day a month back. Anyone already have it at home?

Wow!! How long have you been having it then? Are you excited? Will you feel safe??

Hi Lizzie, it’s been 17 months for me but apparently will be for folks who’ve had at least 4 and without side effects. There will be a system in place where they check to see if you’re ok and then stay the half hour or so to see whether or not you react. So yes, a little nervous about having it at home but will be so much easier.

Hi Mintoes thank you for this post. It couldn’t have come at a better time. These forums really work 😄. I am with the Consultant today for my ‘year on Mepo’ check so will definitely be asking about this. I start a new job soon so will be perfect if I can do this at home instead of taking half a day off every 4 weeks 🤦‍♀️. Fingers crossed. Take care 🤗

Hope they’re rolling it out everywhere-will avoid sitting in clinics and picking up all and sundry as well as saving parking, petrol and time! Let us know how you got on xx

I spoke to my Asthma nurse this afternoon and it is not available in my area at moment. She was aware of it which was a good start and they are going to consider allowing me to take advantage of the home service. My results on Mepo are the best in this area so she was confident it would be a yes. It will also stop me from having to have time off from work especially when I start my new job. Yes definitely will keep you posted x
