Yay!! ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐ŸŽ“ (and a little nay ๐Ÿ˜ท๐Ÿคง๐Ÿ˜’). Anyone have some Xolair advice aka illness?

Itโ€™s official! Iโ€™m graduating with a 2.1 in osteopathy (integrated masters)! Itโ€™s taken me 7 years (3 years more than plan due to my asthma spiralling out of control) but Iโ€™ve finally done it! ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿ˜Š

Incredibly happy, although Iโ€™m 80% sure that Iโ€™m have/am getting a chest infection. Been having good old blue every 2-4 hours for the last few day and blamed it on stress/aniexty/weather. Last night I sounded like Nelly the elephant, I blew my nose so often and now my chest is tight and feels like my lungs are wrapped in cling film. Iโ€™m struggling to keep at 55% PF ๐Ÿ˜’ but I feel ok if I donโ€™t move - however it drops to under 50% on activity and I wheeze and huff like no tomorrow ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜ฌ! Iโ€™ve had no appetite today and Iโ€™ve just starting to cough tiny amounts of gunk up too ๐Ÿ˜ท. Guess that instead of celebrating Iโ€™ll be at my GP tomorrow ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜ฉ.

Does anyone on Xolair know what I should do? I have my next injection on Friday; if Iโ€™m on antibiotics do I need to cancel? What if it viral and none are given?

Iโ€™m hoping that this is just stress relief and that Iโ€™ll be fine in a couple of days, but I donโ€™t know the illness/injection protocol if itโ€™s still around... ๐Ÿ˜•

Thanks a lot!

(A very happy) Emma xxx

Well done that's fantastic. Getting a degree is very demanding at the best of times and even harder when you are ill. You thoroughly deserve it :) x

Thank you! Glad itโ€™s finally over so that I can start earning some money, and stop living off of the bank of MaD ๐Ÿ˜ x

Congratulations! :D Very well deserved! Liked your post for the degree not the infection lol.

No advice on Xolair I'm afraid as not on it - can you contact the nurse who gives it and ask them?

Thank you ๐Ÿ˜Š. Iโ€™m blaming the adrenaline come down as to why Iโ€™m now sick so hopefully Iโ€™ll get over it soon ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป

If youโ€™re actively unwell or infected they wonโ€™t give Xolair but go along and let them assess you. They will just delay a few days to a week and then give it though.

Ok thanks a lot! My doc wouldnโ€™t commit to a diagnosis today - infection, virus or hayfever but given me antibiotics just in case esp as off food and was struggling to hit 50% PF with nebs last night - now up to 60% so yay ๐Ÿ˜…

I was in Xolair every two weeks for five years, just stopped a few months ago. In that time they only with held it once, you have to be proper poorly. Asthma being off on one doesnโ€™t come into the equation itโ€™s active infection so fingers crossed youโ€™ll get it.

Thanks thatโ€™s what Iโ€™m hoping, tho the one thing my doc could say was that my chest wasnโ€™t wheezy so probs not asthma. It feels different to my asthma too... last time I felt like this I spent 2 months ill with a chest infection then unresolved asthma, and the time before I almost ended up in ITU but Iโ€™m hoping that Iโ€™m just being paranoid about it cause of the last 2 experiences ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿคž.

Thanks for your advice and experience! Only been on Xolair since Jan and whilst I have been asthma-ry on injection day I havenโ€™t yet been properly ill... again hoping itโ€™s a short term thing and that Iโ€™ll be fine on Friday! ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ˜…
