Discontinued drug

Hi, I have been on zafirlukast 20mgs twice daily for about 10years and recently have been told that this drug has been discontinued. Before starting this drug I had tried montelukast but is gave me abnormal vivid dreams which become horrendous so I had to stop it and go on Zafirlukast. There are no other drugs in this group so I am having to try montelukast again but once again the dreams have started! Does anyone else have this problem or does anyone have any advice to help me, doesn't help that my asthma symptoms are back because of change in medication.

Many thanks

JM

Hi

I was on montelukast then zafirlukast and now back on montelukast.

It’s been about a month for me now and my headaches have improved. I am still getting horrible dreams tho and so am very tired. My asthma has got worse but this is the worst time of year for me.

I am really sorry but I don’t have any helpful advice. I’m going to have to go back to my GP I think and see what they say...

I think quite a lot of us struggle with montelukast.

Hope you are ok xxx

Thanks, its awful I have only been on for 3 days and feel awful like I've been drugged! I'm so very tired and what with the dreams and asthma symptoms I'm struggling! I'm under the hospital for my asthma, have to see the consultant in 2 weeks but not sure will cope until then!! :-(

I haven’t seen the consultant in ages. Am really hoping that either this settles for me or gp can sort it out.

Have you tried phoning the asthma uk nurses? 2 weeks is a long time to struggle for until your appointment

Good luck with the consultant.

Xxx

I was initially put on Montelucast but had hallucinations, at one point I was trying to climb out of the bedroom window, was saved thankfully by my husband, very scary! My consultant then changed me to Carbocistiene four years ago and I have been fine on that. Hope you get sorted soon.
