I think you are reacting to the dust so using your reliever would be the right course of action. Follow your asthma plan and if its not helping then get medical help e.g out of hours doctor or A&E

If you think it is worse at home then try to confine any dust etc from the work in the kitchen to that room. Keep the doors of all rooms shut, hoover the dust up regulary - or better still get the workment to do it, so that you breathe in a minimum. Damp dust any surfaces to keep dust in air to a minimum. You might want to ask the workmen to keep kitchen door closed and used a sheet or something to catch dust and clear up daily because it is affecting your breathing?

I'd suggest having a shower before you go to bed to get rid of any dust which is on you and keep dust out of bedroom. e.g. change clothes in the evening in bathroom so you don't take dust into bedroom. At least then you have one room free from dust. Dust is an irritant and it is hard to keep it under control when you have major work done. You can only try to minimise it and then take normal asthma medication especially ones which keep inflammation under control.

A nasal wash might also help as it rinses dust from nasal passages followed by a salt water gargle. It sounds a bit unpleasant at first but once you have done it a couple of times it is easier and I've found that it helps.
