Hi, my son had a virus in January which left him with a bag cough. After 10 weeks of steroids etc the nurse said it was Asthma. However after 3 weeks on blue and brown inhalers he is getting worst. Sniffles, cough constantly and not just with exercise. Could he be allergic to the inhalers?

Is it Asthma or something else?
Hi Lisa,
If your son is getting worse, not better, then I would suggest going back to see a GP, not a nurse, and getting him looked at again.
It’s unlikely that he’s allergic to the inhalers, but it’s entirely possible he’s allergic to something else - for example, I’m allergic to cats and dogs.
It’s worth getting your son checked properly.
Hope he recovers and you find some answers. Best of luck x
I have problems with aerosol inhalers, so it is quite possible, but I would definitely seek medical advice on a prolonged cough. The nurse may have been right to suggest trying asthma medication in case that was the correct diagnosis, but I would try to get a hospital specialist appointment where they can do some proper tests. With any luck, the problem will resolve on its own, particularly as the weather improves.
Perhaps get checked for whooping cough too? That can last for months and months.
