Therein lies my troubles, I'm into my 5th week of a chest infection that has only got worse through time Amoxycillin for a week, Doxycycline for a week, awful weekend just gone absolutely choking on phlegm yuck. So today I have been given Prednisilone (a steroid) 5 days worth at 8 per day, plus Co-amoxiclav 3 per day for a week. However my doctor wants to see me again this Thursday, after 4 days current treatment, and if no improvement possible intravenous antibiotics needed, in other words hospital bed This evening I have coughed up a huge lump of "bloody mucus" excuse the vivid description, which has scared me no end, any advice please. thanks

Hi Davey nice to meet you. This site is just for asthma sufferers so you would be better off posting in the British Lung Foundation site also on here. I have asthma and copd but there are many there who have bronchi. x
Hi Hypercat54, thank-you for your information, I assumed (wrongly it seems) that as I had asthma as a long term problem many years BEFORE the more recent bronchiectasis diagnosis then this site was a good start. I am always told nowadays that having the asthma underlying causes difficulty in getting me the right treatment asap. For instance right now into the 5th week of current breathing issues. So if the admin of your strictly asthma forum decide I should not be here then so be it.
Hi
I'm on both sites and really believe you would benefit from joining the British Lung Foundation forum, where there are many people (including myself) with bronchiectasis and where you can receive fantastic advice relating to your condition. Yes, asthma often underpins our problems and I'm sure you can continue to post here but you'd benefit greatly from the knowledge and experience of the BLF.
Hi mate
Don’t think it was a hint to leave
I have both lung conditions you mentioned plus AF.
I am on this site the mentioned lung site and an AF site all run under HealthUnlocked
Search for bronchiectasis r us another good site.
You will be amazed how many of us need to scource help & support over different conditions
Keep your chin up
Maybe all the coughing has burst a blood vessel and caused this blood in your mucus. You are bound to be worried and scared you haven't been well and obviously your diagnosis is scary and new ground. Your GP seems to be trying to stabilise you and will point you in the right direction. Chat on here or BLF if it makes you feel better you will get there. Best wishes😊
