For the last 6 months I have been the healthiest I have been for years and I should be celebrating that for the first time in ages I have gone a whole 6 months without prednisolone and antibiotics, but can't help feel sorry for myself.
I now have an infection again and am on pred and antibiotics. I can't help but feel really worried that the whole cycle of persistent infection, pred and antibioltics is going to rear its head again.
Any advice to ensure that I dispatch this infection quickly? I feel like I have just got my life back after the best part of 2 years spent fighting constant infection and really don't want to repeat the experience. Please share your best tips for seeing off chest infections as quickly as possible.
Thanks

If you’ve gone six months through this long winter without a rescue pack of prednisolone and antibiotics, you need to be telling us your secret!! Well done.
Maybe a virus has at last caught up with you? Whatever you’re doing is good. Just keep taking your main inhaler, well or not. I’m afraid the rescue pack is par for the course in our situation. But avoiding your asthma triggers and staying healthy can reduce flare-ups.
Also steroids provoke a sort of depression in some of us, me included. You might not feel so downhearted once the course is finished.
Oh no choristermum I am feeling exactly the same way. I was v sick at Xmas in Hosp with pleurisy and pneumonia and prior to that I had been the healthiest I’d been since this asthma thing started 2 years ago , for about 6 months / I am rambling sorry I don’t have an answer for you other than we’ve got to keep positive and keep moving - take care 👍
Make sure that the antibiotic u take is the appropriate one for that type of infection. U may wish to have a sputum test so that the correct antibiotic is prescribed. Get well soon
Like you was doing well for the past six months but picked up a viral infection. The cold weather and not pacing myself are also triggers and not listening to my body. Hope this helps.
