After recently being diagnosed with eosinophilic asthma, i wondered whether similar sufferers were going through what i believe is a life altering condition. 52 yrs old, never smoked, always been physically active, that is up until April 2017.
Since that date my life has dramatically taken a turn for the worse..
I have every sympathy for all asthmatics after contracting this bloody horrible condition.
As you can probably tell, i'm fed up and need a good moan..!!
I am at the moment into the 4th month of taking the mepolizumab injection, and i really dont know if its working!!
At the mo i'm sat writing this at 04.00 in the mrning whilst having a radping cough, phlegm, irratable throat and jst bloody knackered..!!
My one question is, is there a cloud with silver lining? Im back at Hosp monday and feel so fed up with it all at mo, jst got back to wrk on phased return and thats taken its toll..
Some advice please..??

hi, from what I've recently learnt about my asthma is never under estimate it. I wasn't taking my asthma but did everything I was told. but I wanst convinced I had asthma. recently diagnosed in September at the age of 27. I have asthma in Nearly all my siblings and my mother has it but hers is extremely mild she only have a blue inhaler and hasn't used it in 10yr plus.
ive been getting worse and needing more and more steps up in treatment which some has given me nearly two weeks were i felt bloody amazing. but suddenly its no longer having the same effect...... is my condition having a strop? probably but all I know is... my attitude is yes I feel. alone... nobody unstands what we go through and how asthma feels. sometimes I feel like I been kick in the stomach, my lungs hurt I don't want to eat or talk but I hope the blips don't last forever..... you might have a switch and change your meds about to find what suits you but it will be worth it in the end.
keep positive. don't let it beat you.
i felt so vulnerable and alone until I found this place. then you realise other go through what your going through and it make me feel at ease to learn from them.
I hope some of this makes sense.... its not easy trying to make sense when your fighting asthma symptoms.
So sorry about your recent diagnosis. I hadn't heard of this chest problem and had to look it up to see what it was think the symptoms are more like COPD, maybe why you haven't had many replies. I have both COPD and asthma along with many other health issues which started at 50 now approaching 60 my advice is to take the treatment offered and you will find out what suits you and you can have a decent quality of life maybe not the way you were but adapt and carry on. Some days you will want to pull your quilt over your head and moan to whoever will listen so what!!!!! Other days you will feel good so make the most of these. You can moan at me all you like don't mind as we all have days and often weeks like you😊
Hya bud, yeh my thoughts as well, i come frm a mining community and watch'd my elderly grandfather struggling to cope with his breathing after 47 yrs down the pit..
But to start with it yourself, different matter...!!!
Yeh whether it comes down to knowledge about the subject "Asthma" and the different types/cases and the remedies needed.. I must admit at first i definitely was blasé about it all and thought i was bullet proof..how wrong have i been!!!
Totally underestimated the condition and now my eyes are wide open.. Yeh after my last time in hospital i was on a ward with lads who suffer frm COPD.. And talkin to those i believe eosinophilic asthma is only a short step away frm COPD..at the mo the light seems to be dimming slightly, my monthly injections dont seem to be everything they are made out to be £1000 an injection..wow.. I still have to fall back on my predosilone tabs and the injection is supposed to do away with them, ive got 4 inhalers i have to take and tabs as well..!!
After 6 mnths off wrk i have jst recently started back albeit on a phased return (4hours daily) but do i kno it, dunno if its that whats set an exasperation on i dont know, but my coughin has been pretty bad this time with galllons of phlegm to boot..
And its lasted quite a while this time well over 1 1/2 wks..
And still suffering up all night again for third night in row maybe 5 hours sleep in three days not good is it but cannot calm my cough on a night especially, which is always set of by an horrible irritable cough, so then i go on my nightly routine strong black coffee, steam mask, loads of water, and then a cough sweet or similar..
Eventually it calms down to a point whether i say should i try goin back to bed or wait a bit longer, i am sat up on five pillows anyway in bed but doesnt matter if i start bloody coughin...
What i have seemd to notice this time is if i hsve a bad bout of irritable throat with cough if i bring some phlegm up its tends to ease.. Whats all that about, has anybody else noticed and kno why..?
Anyways ill get off my soap box and hopefully learn something frm somebody..!!
I have been told by my consultant that eosinophilic asthma is more common than people think as the understsnding of the condition is starting to come to light..!!
Sometimes I take simple linctus with warm water if my throat irritable its very cheap over the counter cough syrup less than £2 its probably sugary gunk but helps me, its just soothing and helps the cough a bit at 3 in the morning. My motto is give anything a shot if it doesn't work you have tried and if it doesn't cost the earth why not. Best wishes to you both if I can help in anyway please get in touch. I have tried may pills and potion's over the past years and do have a few tips. PS not a witch either 😊
