Can someone please help? Does Qvar make you put weight on? Recently been diagnosed with Asthma so taking inhaler but I've also changed diet to eat healthier and also started running (C25K) and on week 4. I am doing all I can but feel I'm gaining weight. Is this correct and can I raise to my doc for alternative?

QVar and weight gain

Qvar does not make you gain weight. No inhaled steroids have that effect.
Great news about your Couch to 5km. When you start exercising, you gain muscle and muscle weighs more than fat. A couple of things worth doing, Measure yourself round the waist with a tape measure, and keep a record. That will give you a good indication rather than just standing on the scales. You may be losing fat and gaining muscle.
Also weight can vary a lot after exercise, muscles retain water, which they need to function well, you can end up weighing more after exercise than before, but a lot of that will be water. I almost always weigh more after a run.
Also healthy foods are not always so low in calories, its worth keeping an eye on portion control. Nuts & Seeds are great, but are very high calorie unless in small quantities Sometimes when you start exercising more, you eat quite a bit more. Try and eat protein after exercise, That will fill you up.
Prednisolone, oral steroids, can affect your weight, mostly from water retention, but for some people they cause a change to appetite, and so if on them for a while can end up putting on weight.
Hope this is helpful
