Hi. My sister has had another attack of asthma. She finished up in a and e where she was put on nebulizer. Went to see respiratory nurse week later. Was told she needed more steroids so was put on fostair 200. Was on fostair 100. It doesn't seem to be making much difference in fact it seems to be making her worse.

Ask for an asthma nurse review as the asthma may have gone too far and need some more steroids.
Hi, I got linked into your message as I used to be on this site. I really feel for your sister. I read your previous posts and see what I was going to suggest was suggested in about Feb or March. Have a look back the advice R gave to you is about the best way to proceed. There are specific protocols for the medical profession to follow. if your sister isn't getting the support she needs , conflicting or confusing information, and frequent asthma attacks I would suggest she ask to be referred to a specialist asthma clinic. Good advice can be sought from Asthma UK and The British Lung Foundation. I have fond that you sometimes need to push to get the support that's right for you. Make sure that you read the leaflet inside the inhaler box or ask your pharmacist if you are confused or given different dosages just to explain how the medicine should be used.
It is very important to get your sisters treatment right.
I wish you the best of luck in helping your sister, she is lucky to have you in her corner.

Judith's comments are exactly right, but make sure your sister is taking the inhaler as she should, with a spacer. I've been told recently to take 3 to 5 breaths in from the spacer to make sure I get the most of the stuff. There are videos on YouTube.
Do your best to reassure her that she will get better and help her relax if she is worried. Easy to say, but stress makes the condition worse. Good luck!
