Asthma plan: Hi how do I get a written... - Asthma Community ...
Asthma plan
Hi I'm sorry I don't know about your inhaler but my asthma nurse done my written asthma plan xx
Why didn't she give me a asthma plan
Asthma nurse gave me my asthma action plan. Then due to changes in my asthma my consultant updated and changed it. All asthmatics should have ond since it helps u to know what to do if your asthma gets woese. Pls go see yr asthma nurse and get on or phone yr gp and ask for one to be set up for u. Wishing u good health. U can see templates of what action plan looks like on the asthma uk site.
Tell her u need an asthma plan so u know what action to take when yr asthma gets worse.
Hi that's a new inhaler on the market, good for you..it is a longterm action inhaler so that's good it means you should get covered for 24h..
did she give you a peak flow meter to measure your breath?
You need that first because the action plan is related to the peak flow.
Take care xx
No ant got 1 no more I did but every time I blow in meter it always OK I haven't took my pumps in 5 days now and starting feel weird now why ant is had attack yet when will I
Hi, I'm on relvar ellipta - I do get confused when I change inhalers. Asthma plan helps a lot with knowing what to do next. I got mine sorted out with my asthma nurse.
I changed from symbicort 400 to relvar because the particles are smaller (I think) my asthma still deteriorates very quickly but is better controlled a lot of the time.
Good luck with the relvar, I hope it works for you 😊 xxx
Is my asthma under control
I'm not sure what is usual for your asthma. I'm on relvar 184 and it has improved my asthma symptoms but hasn't got them completely under control. I get sudden attacks with little or no warning. Keeping track of my peak flow does help and I have triggers that I can avoid as much as possibe (and others that are hard to avoid)
If you are worried that your asthma isn't controlled on the relvar your GP or asthma nurse can help. If you are worried it is best to get medical help.
I don't use my asthma pumps at moment because can't take them because of my fractured ribs but my pulse blood pressure fine so why is it when I not taking my pumps and my face going bit pale as it be 8 days without when I go see my asthma nurse on Tuesday why ant I had attack when I haven't been able to take my pumps for how much more days before I have a attack if don't take pumps
I have had mild asthma for about 20 years and never had an asthma plan or even been offered one. Our surgery does not have an asthma nurse now and we have to see a certain doctor but he has never mentioned it. What exactly is an asthma plan?
An asthma action plan is what you should do if you have certain symptoms or your peak flow is at a certain range
So for example I know my good peak flow range is above 400 (I normally blow 550) under 400 is orange and I don't want to be in there for too long as it's uncomfortable (coughing chest tightness shortness of breath etc) And under 250 is red (aka call an ambulance)
But I also know that if I catch a cold or virus my peak flow only drops slightly but I have serious asthma symptoms coughing mucus etc and I can take up to 8 puffs of my preventer a day (doubling from the standard 4 puffs a day) this is my go to solution I don't find the reliever (salbutamol) does anything other than by me a hour or two of comfort most of the time
If that doesn't start to work quite quickly it's a call to the gp for a quick chat about what to do (only happened once so far)
Every one should have an "asthma action plan" but not necessarily a written one but you must know what to do when things aren't going the way they should be
My asthma nurse said to me I didn't need one as it was for people that didn't know what to do and she was happy that if I couldn't deal with it I'd seek help (a call to the gp or an appointment and keep myself mostly out of trouble)... the sad fact is something like 9 people a day die from preventable assthma related deaths which is 9 too many in my books (and the main cause was a lack of understanding of the condition and so people saught help too late)
asthma uk has some template action plans that will fit most people available on there website
I have never been given an action plan. I have an asthma check with my doctor once a year but in the meantime I cope on my own. I do know what I am doing and if I get a bad chest I go to the doctors for antibiotics and steroids. I do have steroids and antibiotics at home for emergencies. With regard to the peak flow reading I have not got a clue what mine is! Thank you for your help
No it doesn't not, the relvar is a preventer inhaler designed to help with inflamation of the airways and so over time will help with asthma but sadly asthma is not a one size fits all condition and changes over a lifetime
For example I was on beclomethasone when i was about 14 and at about 20 I stopped taking it all together (with no conequences) and then I turned 30 and had a suspected heart problem which turned out to be uncontrolled asthma and was but back on beomethasone again and it worked ok for a short while but the i started to get almost permanent chest tightness and was using my blue Inhaler almost every few hours (which is not good) so I went back to my gp who said you need something else her is another Inhaler which is a combination (fostair) and Im Still on that some months later works much better for me than qvar (beclomethasone on its own) I also have an allergic element so I take an anti histamine (not everyone does)
The definition of uncontrolled asthma is if you are using your reliever inhaler very frequently... your preventer should be doing most of the work so you shouldn't need a lot of reliever
Uncontrolled for me is using my blue Inhaler more than a few times a week... so when I was using it 4-6 times a day Because my chest was tight and it was getting harder to breathe I made an appointment to see my gp and was in and out in under 4 mins, I was armed with why I didn't think clenil was enough and the doctor didn't argue and just changed my repeat and preventer and sent me on my way
