There are a lot of us who have been the same. Hope you get better soon xx 😊

I'm sitting with crossed fingers at the moment. My husband went down with the bug that seems to be doing the rounds this winter, and it does involve a lot of coughing (and he's not asthmatic). I still haven't gone down with it - his symptoms began ten days ago.

What I would like to know is why these things have a habit of flaring up at weekends or on national holidays? It really is uncanny (not to mention infuriating) how often this happens. How's your peak flow bearing up?

My favourite tipple when I've got a hacking cough is a hot honey and ginger drink (1tspn grated root ginger and 1 tspn honey in a mug and topped with hot water). It doesn't cure anything, but I do find it quite soothing. The other thing I do is to apply Vicks vapour rub to my chest at bedtime. Feels disgusting, but I find it does help with congestion during the night.

If things get too bad you can always try ringing 111.

Hope you feel better soon Lyngal.

I had a really crap time over Xmas & New Year. There's loads of bugs & viruses floating around as always at this time of year & I really sympathise! I hope you pick up soon anyway :)

I know that feeling, its like someone put concrete blocks on your chest. I would get to the doctor quickly and get ahead of the curve, unless you have all the necessary at home already.
