Hi all,

Just been prescribed this, scared to try it after reading the leaflet. Anyone else on this and if so what is your experience?

Thanks

Y

I don't take this but my husband who has pulmonary fibrosis does and has no problem with it. It works well for him x

I am on the 400 variety, max dosage, for about eight years, all I can say is, if it helps your Asthma just take it and stop reading the "possible" side effects.

Leaflets will list every side effect ever recorded, regardless of rarity. The chances are you'll get none of them! I take symbicort 200/6 & it manages my asthma well, with perhaps just a bit of throat trouble as the only side effect (which you get from most inhalers anyway).

I have been taking it for a number of years now. I needed to add a LABA to my steroid (and the doctor wanted to try and different steroid too) and this was the first one we tried - it worked, so I've stuck with it.

Can't say I've noticed any side effects - either on my normal 2 puffs twice a day or when I need to double it. The side effects of not taking it far outweigh any possible side effects from taking it!!!

Please don't be scared to try symbicort as it is a very common inhaler and does help a lot of people. Unless you are very unlucky you won't suffer any severe reactions to it. If you do there are others ones to try which would suit you better.

Every med has side effects but for the benefit you get from them it is worthwhile. x

Me, too, on symbicort 200/6. For three months after an asthma attack, I was told to take 8 puffs daily. My only side effect was a tendency to oral thrush. Now I am down to half that dose, and the thrush has taken a back seat. For me it has been vastly better than Clenil.

Have been taking symbicort for the last couple of months. Works well for mr and no noticeable side effects.

Don't read the leafelt.... they're guaranteed to scare you. I've been on it for several years. It works well with no side effects and I'm notoriously difficult with meds . Good luck

I have been on symbicort for 10+years. No problems. It works well and I am on the smart system again with no issues. Just make sure that you drunk or rinse your mouth out after uses. It prevents oral thrush and sore throat

I'm on symbicort 200/6 and is the most effective for me, and I've had any issues with it. The only issue I had was when I was asked to try another inhaler that was identical, it didn't work! If it works for you, then use it. I would recommend it. I also take ventolin for sport an montelukast in winter.
