Hi guys, I have just discovered this site today! Is there any tests doctors can do to check your immune system? Multiple sinus infections even after surgery and chest

I recently went to my new doctors after moving on Monday and saw one of the doctors for the first time and she said it wouldn't normally be something they would test on, gave me my antibiotics and that was it. Oh no you poor thing :( go through nice? Is that not the nhs? Thank you for your reply x

I imagine they have to get special dispensation to treat with certain drugs or procedures.

Hi Helen you can always ask for a blood tests..white cells count..

You need to build up with good food

I heard from one consultant vitamin D is good for asthmatics so I take that from

solgar now and so is good gut bacteria so I eat total fage live yoghurt from the supermarket..and porridge oats cooked in water with a little honey. I avoid milk they say it is inflammatory, yoghurt is good enough ..Also if you are into teas, yesterday funnily enough I was recommended organic Qi Cha white tea which is full of antioxidants and helps with your immune system. So I started on that.

Next infection ask for a referral to ENT it's worth checking up.

Bye for now xx

Hi, ooh thank you for your tips! I take multivitamins but not at the moment as you cannot take these antibiotics with iron, zinc or magnesium so they have vitamin D in. Have been referred to an ENT once and had a septoplasty operation on my nose, which didn't really seem to work. Thanks for your reply xx

Hi Helen

Sometimes you get to a new surgery they get picky you have to start as you mean to go on.

Your needs must to be met.

I was years in a surgery with the receptionist as a scarecrow 😃and one day my elderly neighbour told me there's a much better one up the road and I entered a good practice, a caring world, got my referrals to the respiratory clinics etc so find out about a good surgery in your area.

Good luck my dear and let us know hoe you are getting on. X

Vitamin D has been shown in research to be effective for lung health ( given to perm babies). I would agree White Cell Count but if you are on steroids fairly regularly will be "off" but can be corrected for. Get Igg, Ige and Iga if you can. Depending on where you live some only available from secondary care (hospital) not primary care (GP). a vitamin assay including calcium may also help.

I agree diet is crucial but if starting from deficiet can take while to correct.
