Do you have g.o.r.d. if you have its advisable to raise the head if your bed, not with pillows as this can cause stress on your neck.

I have g.o.r.d. so I have cut out all citrus, wheat, tomatoes, pineapple and onions hope this is of some help to you :-)

They think I do sort of.,i'm on omeprazole 20mg a day..40mg now coz I'm on max steroids. I drink camomile tea..3 cups a day.. No milk just live yoghurts no citrus.. Im allergic to pineapple.,that's a new one..started last year😃

Hello, suspect as does Starveycat, that g.o.r.d/g.e.r.d is your nemesis. Interesting that you drink Camomile tea - this and peppermint tea are some of the worst things for my own g.e.r.d., I drink a little full-fat milk to cool the acid. I have recently like yourself been at the top-end of various steroids, but in the end after another course of Lansoprazole (same as Omeprazole), I have stopped drinking alcohol, tea/coffee and eating chocolate/tomatoes and as many of the other g.e.r.d triggers as possible. For the last 3 weeks have reduced my med's down to zero for the past 4 days.

As far as 'irritation', budesonide, which I previously took as a turbuhaler, I had to stop because it can cause coughing as a symptom, and depression. Maybe need to speak to GP/Asthma Nurse to try another oral-steroid. But would strongly look at the g.e.r.d. as a possible cause.

Wishing you good luck!

Mark

Thank you Mark very informative😊 You are very disciplined I don't want to give up everything 😢 I feel I concede a lot to living with asthma as it is!! But I have reduced my goodies 😃

Those nebs are just for 7 days there are on top of the seretide inhaler..I hope to see the back of this bad spell..

I'm going back to the specialist tomorrow, I will mention what you said and will see what he says. Thanks again :))

You're welcome. In the end not difficult for me to concede. After the second attack in two years where I was staring in a mirror at a man who was asphyxiating, and coughing blood. I knew the time had come to stop. I think also knowing that the medication is often a prevention, not a cure and that things will perhaps deteriorate over time - even with medication - that for me it was the choice to make. But as you will see here everybody's asthma is different. Good luck with the next appointment.

I hate to say this, Happylondon, but caffeine is one of the worst triggers for GORD, the reason being that it contains something that relaxes the lower oesophageal sphincter muscle at the top your stomach thus making reflux more likely.

It's a pain, I admit. I love chocolate myself - always have done, but that also contains caffeine. I also suffer from reflux issues at the moment (not going through a good patch at the moment) and I've learned the hard way that chocolate will cause problems (unless I'm going through a very good phase - but even then I can only risk a very small amount). At the moment I even have to be careful of anything containing a lot of refined sugar. It's not fun, it's not pleasant, but I consider reflux and the resulting heartburn to be far worse. The one small consolation is that given what I can and can't eat, I'm never likely to get overweight:-)

Good to know thanks :))

Oh Mark so sorry to hear you had such a bad time..I'm glad you have found your own way and it suits you. Yes of course we all have different perceptions and reactions, I have read the forum for years but decided it was the right time for me to join, interact and share.

Thank you I hope I see the same guy for a start tomorrow that would help :))) #asthmahumour
