Hi Hugo2102,

My asthma is relatively mild and doesn't bother me too much (I've only had one really bad attack, and most days I don't have any symptoms), and I was only diagnosed in the last couple of years, so I'm not sure whether I'd be suitable for your study. That said, I'm an avid long distance runner who trains 5 days per week and races regularly up to 1/2 marathon level. I have recently had a really bad attack at a race and had to be taken to hospital by ambulance.

I don't live near you, but if you could send me a list of questions, I would be interested in helping you with your research.

Thank you for your response, I should stress that it is an interview not a questionnaire, I can't simply send you the questions and you answer them, it has to be verbal. Plus the interview will be semi-structured, I won't have a list of questions but rather a list of topics that I can draw questions from.

I was a severe asthmatic 7 years ago. Today, I have completed a 21km, 3 full marathons, a100km ultramarathon and the latest marathon which was a 400km in 64 hours. :)

At the University of Northampton?

Hugo 2102,

I'm wary about giving out too much information about myself online (no offence), but I do understand that an interview will be a valuable source of information for you. I'm new to this forum, so not sure if there's any way you could private message me your email address? If so I would be willing to contact you and have a look at your information sheet. As long as I can remain anonymous, I could do an interview on skype.

Hope that helps,

Runnergirl

No offence taken, it's perfectly reasonable. I'm new to the forum as well, primarily using it for the purposes of recruiting participants. I'm sure there should be a way of privately messaging you. You will remain anonymous as will be explained in the information sheet. Hopefully it will address all of the concerns that you have.

Hi Hugo2102, please email research@asthma.org.uk with details of your research - they need to approve your request for research before we can allow you to post about it on the forum.
