Frightened

Hi, have had asthma for many years with no problems. Yesterday I was discharged from hospital after spending a week in there diagnosed with pneumonia and uncontrolled asthma. Being referred to a respiratory specialist. Trying to get as much info as possible. Just been a very frightening time.

It sounds like you've had an awful time of it.

Likewise I'm afraid I don't know much about pneumonia so don't know what the specialist might do, but it might be worth you ringing the BLF helpline (03000 030 555). Their nurses will know much more & may be able to offer some guidance & reassurance.

I can imagine how frightened you must have been. I have a chest infection at the moment and just finished five days of antibiotics but I still don't feel a lot better. I have now been put on five days of prednisolone which I do not like taking as I have glaucoma but I have no choice. I went to the eye department two weeks ago and they were concerned because my pressure had gone up so I am worried taking steroids.

Poor you. I'm just getting over pneumonia myself and just half a day in hospital was enough. Hugs to you. X
