I was going to say that, while the initial thing from the government mentioned severe asthma as an example, those deemed to be in the shielding group have never been classed as having severe asthma. Some of us do of course, but the shielding group suggested by Asthma UK (in conjunction with the NHS) is not just severe asthma. It's for those at high risk of hospital if they get coronavirus. But the above link explains it all much better than I can. Because they wrote it lol.

To be honest many people seemed to ignore it or ignore the doses anyway so it's probably a good thing. Especially as it's up to GPs to decide for their patients.
This does seem to confirm that it is the practices that are sending the letters. Shame my practice has told me they will not be sending any letters because it is to much work...
I'm 67, on FOSTAIR NEXThaler 100/6 two puff twice daily and was admitted to ICU in June 1992 for asthma. This would appear to put me in the shielding group but I haven't received a letter. I would consider myself higher risk. Not sure about extremely vulnerable.
Who decides if I should receive a letter?
Would a 1992 vintage ICU admission be "summarised" out of my medical records?
It’s worth speaking to AUK to talking to your GO. Im not sure how far back they are going back on the records.
As you said you’re definitely at a higher risk, but you may also may be pleased as extremely vulnerable and if that’s the case your GP may need to chase up the letter

This suggests that I have been removed from the register.
Just got my letter yesterday re shielding... had to tell my work so now cant go back to work for another 12 weeks....was hoping to go back this week after 3 weeks off due to another virus I had 3 weeks ago... ah well
Yes very true....I had thought I wouldn't get a letter and since I am feeling well was hoping to go back to work (I am a home careworker) since they need me at work....but now due to the letter I cant which makes me feel bad considering I feel ok and feel able to work...
I am on Fostair 100/6 but on 4 puffs X2 daily, Spiriva Respimat, Montelukast, 10mg Prednisolone, 20mg Loratidine and Beconase. I have also had a hospital admission for 5 days in February. I have not received a sheilding letter. Both the AN from the hospital resp team and AN at surgery think I should be on the sheilding list. I am also a key worker. Luckily my employer has furloughed me and my husband to reduce the risks to me.
