Hi I've been reading conflicting things on vitamin D. It looks like some studies say deficient vitamin D levels aggravate asthma, but other studies say supplementing does nothing to relieve it. Is there any good info on this ?
cheers

Hello, I was prescribed vitamin D as mine was low when they tested it. However as it has increased now they decided to remove this medicine from me. I would bring the topic up with either your doctor/ consultant to see their opinions on it. I took 0.9ml a day for about 4 months

But you didn't get the vit D just for asthma ? I suppose the sensible advice is simply make sure you get enough and then it won't be an issue. Still, I found this here piece by this here organisation which says it's a line of research.

I will be asking the doc about this, yes.

Well my consultant linked asthma and vitamin D together as apparently when that's low that can cause asthma to worsen and stuff.
Aha, interesting. I wonder how this will develop because I see contradictory claims about vit d and asthma.

I just watched something by one of the top vitamin D experts who says people in northern latitudes make no vit D from the sun at this time of year, and it seems like a good idea to supplement anyway, and wait until this has been researched a bit more.
My son had vit D supplements for a year or so, but I really can't say whether it helpsed. He has brittle asthma so good and bad periods anyway. When I asked his consultant about Vit D he said 'won't do any good, won't do any harm'! Son has also had vit C, multi-vit, Omega 3 and Selenium - worth a try. Now he just has a multi-vit.
