Shaken after unexpected asthma attack.

I was diagnosed with asthma summer 1999 and, aside from some bad chest infection and occasional inflamation, it has been very well controlled. However I had an attack that scared me yesterday. I was eating chocolate and tried to cough when a tiny melted bit got stuck. All of a sudden my airways started to shut down. I was so scared. I had friend with me and she had to try and find my inhaler. In the end she had to bring my coat to me as of course it was lost in the depths of one of of the pockets. In the meantime I had got to the bathroom and was kneeling on the floor by the bath and turned the tap on to clear any residue chocolate away. I could hear myself wheezing badly and could hardly draw in my breath. I was so scared. I have never been so scared in my life. I honestly felt like I was going to stop breathing. I feel fine now other than truly shaken by what happened. I just want to share what happened and need any advice and feedback anyone had.

I know how you feel as. Had my first major attack since being diagnosed in Jan last Friday! Lucky for me I work in a chemist and our manager made me go to the Drs straight away as she's a pharmacist to! Still not feeling right a week on from the attack! Unfortunately I don't have any advice as I'm new to this although its in the family! Hope you don't suffer like you did again and if you do you know how to cope!

Hi! Hope you get better soon!

For me that happened last year. I went to gp saying my asthma is flaring up but they said I am fine as I grown out of it. So I thought I will be fine. After a week at midnight I ended up in a n e with an asthma attack. Which is the last thing that I would expect. Was just a nightmare. Since then I keep getting attacks out of the blue. ?
