My asthma has got really bad.now and under my asthma team still.
After a full blood test last week my doctor found out I have anemia and red blood cells small and transfer
rate slow.As red blood cells are used to take oxygen from your lungs around your body this could be why my asthma is out of control.months on steroids along with my other stuff.
Does anyone else have anemia and cause your asthma go nuts !
I'm due see my asthma team next month so can talk to them about it.....lol
im always aneimic, and i have found since being under resp people i am massivle over-treated for it, i am on crazy high iron tabs despite being only slightly anemic atm. I don't know that its made my asthma worse, but clearly my resp team think it could and so are being over cautious, they properly said that the iron tablets and the dose were non-negotiable, i have very rarely taken iron coz they make me feel so ill, and when i do i take a really low dose! SO i'd guess that it can really affect some people! if they iron makes you feel rubbish make them experiment with different ones, i was told for ages that i was on the best iron tabs so couldnt possible feel ill (on the one a day ones) and then moved to the 6 a day ones and still dont feel great but its soooo much better than the others which are supposed to be good!! hope you feel better soon

Hope it gets sorted for you soon glynis, sounds like you are having a horrid time.
Hugs x
Thank you angelica.....lol
im on Ferrous Gluconate 600mg (3xdaily), they're the best ones i've ever had, but i know im unusual, i just told my cons that i refused to take the ones i'd been on before (once a day ones) because by the time i stopped taking them the smell when i opened the packet would make me throw up coz they made me feel so ill. I really empathise, by worst thing is the nausea, which, for me, is managed with cyclizine, but hopefully your GP will eaither be able to change tablets (i thing the 'gluconate' part of my tabs can change for different types of iron) or give you something to manage the side effects!!
Aww you poor thing Glynis what horrible time you have been having.
I do hope you start to feel better soon
Message to Glynis's lungs. BEHAVE.

Hi soph ,
Iron tablets helping but drained with heavy monthlys .
have they ever considered putting you on a drug called tranexamic acid, its contraindicated with a fair few things but can help with monthly issues - works amazingly for me, might be worth adressing the source of the problem rather than only treating symptoms, somaybe worth asking about Glad the iron tablets are doing their thing!
