I have had asthma since age of 12 or so when it was more allergy based then and I thought I had grown out of it as I had no real breathing issues with allergies for years. At the age of 36 I had a persistent cough and was treated for chest infection. It never cleared up, several antibiotics later I was confirmed as having asthma again. Within minutes of taking inhalers the cough disappeared. I use seretide daily and reliever if required. However my excema is flaring up no end. I have olitum, hydrocortisone, betnovate the whole lot.
I want to feel healthy again so I have joined a gym and have decided I am going to lose weight (am about 4 stone overweight). I felt this would be the best time to look at the best diet that would help my asthma also and wondered if anyone had anything to add to the stuff on here. 2010 is going to be a healthier slimmer and hopefully darth vadar impersonation free year...

Despite severe asthma, I try to aim to walk most days, gentle strolling is better than nothing, so with regular walking and sensible diet says she who loves all the naughty things, I can usually maintain my weight. Don't aim to high in losing weight, because I find that in my own experience that if you achieve little steps you are more likely to keep the weight off. So aim for a stone first and regular exercise each week. When you have achieved that goal, reward yourself and start aiming for the next goal. And hopefully your improved fitness will aid your Asthma as well.
Good luck and let us know how you are getting on, plus if at times it is proving a hard slog, I am sure we will all do our best to aid you in achieving your goals.
Thanks for the replies. I have a dog so do quite a lot of walking and find it very helpful. I aim to do it all slowly but not sloath like : )
The weather doesnt help though does it - I struggle more with the asthma and the motivation. Under the duvet is so much cosier!
