Having a hospital skin prick test end of the month,

just wandering if anyone knows what I will be tested for on a routine test?

Last couple I had included cat, uk dust mite, us dust mite, tree pollen, grass pollen, think there are eight, ten including the two controls.

hi

Yeah i know as i had one done last year. Dust, cat and dog fur, milk, egg, there is alot of things really but the ones you have can go up or down

I am pretty sure I never had a skin prick with egg or milk though so must be different ones. Definitely had dog, cat and two dust mites and then different pollens.

i had alsorts. 18 allergens and 1 control. I even had ginney pig fur as part of mine. I was sensitive to all of them

They taylor them to the individual don't they, would be silly putting milk on my arm and then stbbing it though as they know I really am allergic to that, not sensitive! It isn't bad Glynis, irritating if they irritate you!! Had to have a repeat on my back like a baby as my dust mites and tree pollen reacted so much they merged on my arm and they couldn't measure the reaction, really annoying part was I couldn't reach on my back to scratch them.

each test is different and everyone reacts different. They make you want to itch and you cant some places put a damp towel on the arm

I have had a RAST test as wanted to see if my dog and cat was ok.

i knew my dog was ok has had him ten years but not sure about the cat but came back no pet allergy.

would that include cat urine as have to clean his cat loo out but hubby helps me so done fast ?

im not sure i have been tested for the fur but i havent heard of it. I get tested for every pet in my house i came in contact with

have it done at the end of the month and off steroids by then so hope find out one or two xxx

yeah hopefully you will find out what could trigger your asthma

Xx

Last skin prick test - tested for cat, dog, dust mites, several pollens, and something else I cant remember. Must remember not to take antihistamine.

Hi Glynis

Good luck and hope this helps.

I had control, dog, cat, bird, dust mite, pollen, trees, mould, fungi, spores, grass and two others that I can't remember. Think it depends on the clinic and also what you think your triggers may be.

Rachael

In addition to the other skin prick tests already mentioned i had horse, rabbit, latex and rape seed. I also had RAST done for bees, wasps, mice and rats (due to my job).

Just wondering when this would be done? Have been told am generally atopic i.e. allergic but not severe reactions to anything. Have asthma complicated by sinusitis/allergic rhinitis, hayfever, penicillin and milder nut reactions. Waiting ENT appt for sinuses so hope they can do something and asthma improves or else it's referral time for me for asthma. Guess they would look at things like allergies then? Or is it something a GP can organise if able to manage results?

Not what you're looking for?
