I have to say that when I am stressed my asthma feels harder to control...I am not saying that stress causes my asthma if only it was that simple, but I would have to say that it makes it feel much more brittle than when everything else in my life is chugging along nicely. Does any one else find this? Any tips to make it easier pleeeasssse!

stress as a trigger.
Right there with you Honey. Since Friday (when all probs with work started) my asthma symptoms have been so much worse. Stress and getting upset seem to make things worse, then you enter the viscious circle of stress = worsening of symptoms / asthma attack = makes you upset because you are scared = more stress = worsening of symptoms and so it continues .... Sorry no tips on how to make it easier other than does anyone have a magic wand??
Oh who would have asthma eh???!!!!
Rach. xx
Hi honey
Stress can affect asthma as can emotions. I know it does with me.

definitely with you. Always denied categorically that stress was not a trigger but I do now agree that whilst it isn't a trigger it makes it less controllable. Had ofsted at work last week and resorted to taking my nebuliser to work in my desperation to just be there somehow
Never used so much salbutamol as through the last six months. Worries over daughters pregnancy (its ok, baby was fine) amongst other things. So yes I would agree stress isnt a good thing for asthma.
It can make asthma much worse, so i try to address all stress factors if I can.

Yep! Over the past year I've definitely noticed that if I'm in a very stressful situation, I feel tight chested and wheezy. When I'm going through a stressful period (which is usually when I have a run of work related meetings/problems!), I find that my asthma is more difficult to control. Even though I don't feel too stressed at these times, I guess my body is telling me that I am! I can't say that stress = asthma attack though, I think it's just the limited asthma 'control' that I do have goes out of the window.
I don't have any tricks to make it easier, apart from taking some time out during the day to practice deep breathing exercises in conjuction with salbutamol/spacer
I know exactly what you mean. My asthma is the first thing to start playing up when Im stressed. Im under a huge amount of stress and Im trying hard to keep it under control but failed today having an attack. I know by the end of the week when the ""stressor"" has gone that I will be okay again. Sometimes when Im chugging along and now realising it, my asthma can alert me to the fact that Im stressed!
Try to find something that really relaxes you to limit its chance of your asthma being set off in any way.
Keep safe
Thank you everybody
well at least it is not just me...that has made me feel so much better thank you.
We had ofsted last week although I was not there as off sick - but still felt for school apparently supply in my class was watched 3 times. Work seems to be my major stressor even when I am not there. Am trying hard to find a way to rsolve the situation without restorting to tears and tantrums.
I have not had a good night so going to try and take it easy today am sooooo tired.
