Moderator Message - Requesting Urgent Medical Advice

Hi everyone,

We've had our attention brought to an increasing number of posts recently, which have been requesting advice (or expressing frustration) where it is clear the poster is in an acute asthma situation. Please be aware of the distress and worry that posts such as these can cause to other message board members; and I also must remind posters of AUK's message boards T&Cs, which read like this, and contain some useful source of advice. I urge you to follow them.

Asthma UK's forums are for debate and discussion. Especially, they are not a suitable place to obtain medical advice in an emergency. If you feel unwell or need advice in an emergency situation, help should be obtained from one of the following sources:

* Your local GP service - either your surgery, or, if closed, the local out-of-hours centre; some regions also have NHS Walk-In Centres

* NHS Direct - a nurse-led advice line which can provide medical advice, or call an ambulance if needed - telephone 0845 46 47

* Dialling 999 for an emergency ambulance, or by going to your local Accident & Emergency department.

* Asthma UK's own guidance for what to do in an asthma attack (tinyurl.com/r54fa6)

Thanks - hope you are ""enjoying"" our somewhat unpredictable May weather!

Urgent Help

Hi Cath

Really pleased you wrote about this. I nearly sent you a PM last night to say I was getting concerned about these 'urgent help' posts but thought you would see for yourself! I dont know why people post on here instead of ringing the doctor!!

Interested to know how you got on in Marathon and how much you raised in the end.

Regards,

Angeline

Bump!

Going up

Bumpity bump to the top!

Just like to add, if you have a mobile and no credit, or a sim card in your phone you can still call for help using 112.

Also if you have the time to post on here and wait for reply, it's not that urgent......IS IT!
