Gentle Reminder: Requesting urgent medical advice

Ho ho ho, Merry Christmas and all that!

Just a gentle reminder regarding the T&Cs relating to urgent medical advice. We do ask that these kinds of posts are not made on the boards, as they can cause distress and worry to other users - and this really isn't a good place for getting help in an emergency. < start quote from T&Cs >

""Asthma UK's forums are for debate and discussion. Especially, they are not a suitable place to obtain medical advice in an emergency. If you feel unwell or need advice in an emergency situation, help should be obtained from one of the following sources:

* Your local GP service - either your surgery, or, if closed, the local out-of-hours centre; some regions also have NHS Walk-In Centres

* NHS Direct - a nurse-led advice line which can provide medical advice, or call an ambulance if needed - telephone 0845 46 47

* Dialling 999 for an emergency ambulance, or by going to your local Accident & Emergency department.

* Asthma UK's own guidance for what to do in an asthma attack""

< end quote from T&Cs >

So please, take a moment to consider whether your post might be construed as asking for urgent advice, and, if it does, please follow the steps above rather than posting here.

Many thanks, and Happy New Year!

Rocky, please don't worry too much. There is people here with all levels of asthma from mild through to very severe (often known as brittle) on a lot of medication and in/out of hospital (often referred to as Costa) which is relatively rare given the millions of people with asthma. Thus you will generally be always able to find someone who's had the same experience or able to answer questions.

Bump!

Bumpedy bump ;)

*bump* to the top for new members.

Bump! Have a read of the T&Cs everyone - and I've now remembered it still counts even if you don't think you need urgent help. Hope no-one needs it for a bit. :)

Thanks for the bumps, folks!

Also, please consider that posting just to say how ill you are - even if you know yourself that everything is within your normal action plan - is against the T&Cs too as it can cause unnecessary distress to message board users.

Thanks, everyone.
