an irritating cough

hi,

I've had an irritating cough since Christmas, ive had antibiotics, I/m not coughing all day but when i do cough it's very chesty sounding. It's only productive first thing in the morning. It is waking me up during the night as well. It's really starting to drive me crazy, my GP said it's viral and can last weeks, how long should i leave it before going back. The ventolin does relieve it, especially if i end up having a coughing fit.

any advice?

thanks

Debbie

I have had a viral infection since just before xmas and still feeling the effects from it now, been back to doctors twice and both times been told nothing they can do just take pain killers (which already do anyway). Had to beg to have pred dose increased... Hope your GP is more supportive...
