I can't breathe when the temperature drops below a certain level but I doubt whether any doctor would prescribe cold weather masks on the NHS when a scarf can be used.
Has anyone here ever had one prescribed?

no but like u say a scarf works wonders, as does the buff which many of us use in cold weather.
whats the ""buff"" ?
yes a scarf works well enough for me it is also rather more discreet

I have just Googled Polar buffs & they look great! There is a lovley pink one on Amazon that I'm going to get! I have a snood but it doesn't quite do the job so I will give the polar buff a go!

I have a merino wool buff which my husband bought me for xmas last year, it is fantastic. I dont go out without it in the winter.
I have a polar buff and one of the normal ones too, they're easier to wear over your face than a scarf. I must admit I've had some funny looks from security guards walking in and out of shops, i must look really shifty when I'm wearing it, lol!
