What triggers your Asthma?

I guess this may of been done before, but I'm curious, what triggers your asthma?

Mine;

Stress

very cold air

very warm air

being ill (cold, flu etc)

Pet hair (especially dog)

Side effects of having developed asthma;

Alergic to pet hair - brings me out in a rash, and get hayfever type symptoms.

Alergic to washing up liquid - gotta wear marigolds now, lol.

Please copy and paste the 2 lists above and add yours to it. Be interesting to see.

Thanks

Pollen, hot / windy weather, cold air (but the heat is worse), dust, dust mites, chlorine, exercise... which I manage by taking ventolin and atrovent prior to execising.

All the above only triggers my asthma mildly..

The worse for me are reflux and colds/flu

I came up with the slightly mad idea of putting a proper teepee (sp) in the back garden therefore removing the HDM problem. I might be getting a wee bit obsessed with HDM's though.

Bex

Too many to mention so im not going to list them all but top of list is Pollen -especially grass very kindly responsible for annual admission in June for last 8 yrs!! (havent planned anything for next month going on track record!!

Bex- if you get any more obsessed i think you will need a referral for an OCD clinic!! mind you i have been known to send hubby into places and dust before i arrive(such as mobile homes on hols!!)

my triggers are

dust

mold

big changes in temperature

humidity

grass

perfumes

fish smell

dogs (strange because im not allergic)

exercise

stress sometimes

and infections such as colds and flu

Hops, the good news is that 1st dreadful bout of grass pollen is over with. Cos we had such a mixed up year we have done the early june grass pollen burst. Relax and enjoy june this year :)

Me I am planning a HDM stalking/hunting/killing trip for June, instead.

Bex

Yay! No More Anti-Histimines! Does anyone know what the pollen Levels in Oz and new zealand are like? I am going there in June for 2 months!

My Triggers are:

Excersise

Cigerette Smoke

Humidity

Dogs and cat hair

Colds,Flus and Chest infections.(which are quite common!)

There is more But Right Now my Mind is Blank!

hayfever

cold/windy/air conditioning

grapefruit

asprin/diclofenac/brufen

Hold up Elephant the 1st grass pollen hit that happens ar roughly the time they start to cut for haylige (sp) started back when we had that lovely bout of warm weather a couple of weeks back. People are still cutting grass etc but the 1st hit and the one that normally really really gets people is over. Don't stop taking your anti-histamines.

Bex

my triggers be:

stress (Big at the mo, going through a rough patch)

smoking (doesnt help living with 2 heavy smokers around 50% of my time)

excersise

cold air

dust (not allergic but still doesnt do me any good)

colds/flu (bad immune system LOL!!)

purfumes/ areosols

Side effects:

on heavy days i vibrate from salbutamol shakes. I get tired VERY easy

Hi Wendy,

""on heavy days i vibrate from salbutamol shakes. I get tired VERY easy""

That's something that i got occaisionally, the shakes but normally after several nebs and I also get very very tired after an attack so i can sympathise with you very much.

I think its interesting to see what sets our asthma off.

Mines mostly:

* Colds & viruses - think i've got mone on the way!!!

* Stress - Normally brought on by thinking i've got a cold/virus coming.

Thats pretty much it!!

I wish I knew might actually find some contorl then but as it stands:

exercise

cold air

aerosols

cigarette smoke

humidity

dust

stables (as i horses)

air pressure (on aeroplanes)

stress

cat and dog fur

illness

hayfever

the list goes on! x
