Reducing Pred?

Hi,

I've been reducing my pred for the past few weeks and I'm now down to 15mg (YAY!). But since I got it down I've been getting a really upset tummy (TMI ALERT) and been getting really bad diarrheoa. (END) Is this a common thing for reducing pred? It's been going on since Monday mow and I'm getting a bit bored of it.

Thanks :)

Vicky

Hi Vicky

I've weaned off more courses of Pred than I care to count, but that's never been a side effect that has happened to me, and I've never heard of it either. But of course that's not to say that the pred isn't causing it, pred effects people in different ways!

If you've been getting bad diarrheoa then there is a chance that you're not even absorbing the pred (and other meds) anyway, and as it's been a problem for almost a week it might be worth contacting your GP. Make sure that you keep yourself hydrated :)

Hi Elephant 2001

I have had the same thing, I wasn't sure if it was just my IBS but it makes sense if it was my steroids as when I was on the high dose I didn't poo for about 10 days!
