Hiya, I've done a post on this previously but my question is different
I take 40mg pred every other day
And I was wondering if there's any bad side effects to doing this I should know about
Because since Thursday I've had a stomach bug and I just wanna make sure it can't be a side effect to the meds even though I've been on pred many times before
Thx for advice in advance

"Alternate-day corticosteroid therapy has become a widely employed and highly effective mode of therapy in a variety of conditions, including childhood nephrotic syndrome (1), chronic asthma (2), renal transplantation (3, 4), as well as various inflammatory or autoimmune diseases (5-8).
It is a particularly attractive mode of therapy since the serious cushingoid side effects associated with daily prednisone therapy have been shown to be absent or markedly diminished (9, 10).
In addition, cutaneous delayed hypersensitivity remains intact (10), and the increased incidence of infectious complications frequently encountered with long-term, daily prednisone therapy is not found with alternate-day regimens (10, 11)."
"Hence, in these patients on alternate-day prednisone therapy, chronic treatment, even as long as several years did not result in a cumulative lymphocytopenia and monocytopenia."
If alternate therapy is advised, does that mean someone on a maintenance dose of 5mg should take 10mg alternate days (average 5mg per day) or 5mg on alternate days thus halving the dose???
I think you’d be high as a kite if you took 80mg alternate days!! Maybe by doing it this way it will be easier to taper since you are taking an average of 20mg per day. From that article it seems that dosing alternate days results in fewer side effects. But I’m no expert!
