Hi,
This might sound a silly question but does anyone else get really sharp pains in their chest because of asthma. I told my asthma nurse I was having them and asked her if anyone else had them and she said no but I don't believe that.
Thanks
Helen

Chest Infections
I have chronic Asthma and I get chest pains. I’m not sure however if they are directly related to Asthma. It may be that when the bronchioles become inflamed chest infections may be the result and that is what causes the pain in my chest often on coughing, exercise, cold or wet air intake usually the associated cough becomes ‘productive’ which is not usually attributed to Asthma. So technically your Nurse may be right, but a trip back to the Dr describing what you feel in your chest may lead to better management of your lungs, but chest infections (including Bronchitis) often accompany Asthma.
Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I haven't got a chest infection at the moment (thank goodness) But I'll ask the doctor on friday about it when I see her but I don't hold out much hope for any help

yes, but as long as they go away, don't worry. There is research to suggest that asthma can cause angina like symptoms.
Hi,
I was in the MAU department the other day and they thought it might be angina but then they said that I was too young at 34 to have it but they are arranging for a heart monitor anyway for 24 hrs. I've had the pains before but for the past month they won't go away
several reports I've read indicate that bronchial asthma can cause a pain similar to angina, so this may explain them
I've raised this question before with the asthma nurse, as have others and always drawn a blank. But have been told as long as they go away not to worry.
Hi Helen,
Please go for a checkup if you still have chest pain.
Dont want to worry you but I had it and breathing was bad and ended up with blood clots in my lungs twice,so please get a check up if happens again

Hi all,
I went to the doctors on friday about my chest pains and she thought it had something to do with my bones because I have osteoporosis but I'm still not convinced, I think it's to do with my asthma but trying to explain it is so hard
