12:25am, asthma bad & out of inhalers

so yes, its 12:25, i'm out of inhalers, asthma is bad, feeling tightchested, drank coffee [helps a bit normally], is there anything i can do without inhalers just till morning? i'm pretty scared at the minute.

If symptoms aren't too bad and you can wait a little while, call GP out of hours to get more inhalers (ring your GP surgery on the normal number, and you will either be automatically put through to the out of hours service or a recorded message will give you the number for out of hours). If symptoms are bad or you need help more urgently go to A&E or call an ambulance.

With regard to inhalers - I always have a stock of inhalers, I get repeat prescriptions every month for me and my son even if we havent come to the end of the meds. I also have reliever inhalers dotted around (lounge, bedroom, kitchen and one in the car) and I ALWAYS make sure I have one in my bag or coat pocket when I go out.

It might be a good idea for you to explain what happened to your GP and ask if you can have 2 reliever inhalers on your repeat prescription (if you havent already).

Firstly, people may not be here immediatly to give advice

- We can't see how bad you are!

- If this ever happens again you must phone NHS Direct or 999 if you are struggling.

- Alway try to keep spare inhalers - nag your GP! It is cheaper for them to dispence a few reliever inhalers than to treat you in an emergency, out of hours, call an ambulance.

It can happen , however the emergency docs will help if u ring them, if it gets bad the emergency service can provide u with medicine and more assistance. I do hope it settles and try to get extra supplies during the holidays for next time.

I see from your profile that you are 17 and I wonder if your parents were aware you were struggling that night? I keep an eagle eye on my teenage son and all his meds. I hope you are feeling better now and sorted out your inhalers.
