Blue Nails

Does anybody here get blue nail beds at all? Initially it was a hospital DR who noticed it after i had an asthma attack (and he then found a heart murmur which he thought may be linked but wasnt!). Since then i have it frequently even when i feel well and normal.

Sam it's an indicator that u don't have enough oxygen in your blood. It's known as cyanosis I would make an appointment to discuss this further with your gp.

Hi Sam-r,

Best to get a check up with your doc.

my nails go blue and my lips go blue when I am struggling with my asthma.

my hubby or anyone im with tell me my lips are blue and then I notice my nails are.

usually by them I have to multi dose on salbutamol xxX

EDIT -Or AnE IF need to neb and need help.

my doc and con know all about it xxxx

Hi

For years I got very cold hands and feet and my hands and nails went blue/purple. A Gp noticed how cold my hands were, he said a name for it but for th life of me I cant remember. He said it seems to be somthing that affects woman far more than men.

I think it began with an R, sorri i dont have time to look it up but if your worried about it then ask the doctor again

do you mean Raynauds PamPam ? :)

I don't usually have blue nails chronically, when I have severe attacks my nail beds do go blue/purple as well as my lips becoming bluey grey, as mentioned before this is a sign of low oxygen levels ,when I've had particularly bad attacks my feet go cold and I remember indicating I felt feverish before that happened and losing consciousness but I'm not sure if that's right as it is a bit hazy. This should usually be treated as soon as possible if suffering an attack as hypoxia (low levels of oxygen) is dangerous.

Thats it, Raynauds!!!

Its very common in females. I'm not too bad now but my hands used to constantly be like ice and i couldnt hold anyones hands because mine were too cold

Thank you for your replies full of info :) I have a review coming up with my asthma nurse, but then in saying that my back is bad (slipped a disc 2 months ago) and is affecting my legs so i'll probably be in the docs monday about that so i'll ask them :) My toes are starting to do it aswell now so i'll definately get it checked out :)
