Would a preventer inhaler be better for me?

I have just been given a Salamol inhaler (reliever)

I only get my asthma in the summer, usually around July and August so I asked my doctor if I should have a preventer inhaler and he said no and that I should be ok now with the reliever inhaler

I don`t understand this because, isn`t prevention better than cure?

how often do you use your reliever? if it is only quite rarely then you probably dont need a reliever, but if you're using your reliever a lot then normally you are given an inhaler. you would probably only go on a preventer for the summer if you only get symptoms then!
