Eye Sight affected by Meds
Hi Donna,
Seretide affected mine at the start then I was fine. Its pred. that's the worst one for me. Makes me more short-sighted in dusk or at night. Takes about three weeks after a 10 day course, to feel confident about seeing properly again. I test it on going down an escalator - which I've just got over my fear of after many years of avoiding them - if I don't feel confident for stepping firmly onto the step, then I know my sight is no good for driving yet. Bit of a bummer as still training to be a driving instructor. May have to have a re-think on that one.
Best regards,
GM
GM , thank you for your reply. I am scared that my eyes are still getting worse and they will stay like it. I stopped taking the seretide has I should, that is successfull because its a tough choice - eye sight or asthma. Good Luck with the driving courses DT
Hi Donna,
Ok to stop if asthma nurse or GP know about it. There may be something else you could take instead. I'm on symbicort now for both preventer and reliever - SMART - mild exercise, walking up an incline and icy weather sets me off. No ill effects on sight and that's been three months so far, touch wood.
Best wishes, there's an alternative for you too.
Moira xx
GM, thanks for you help, I did try symbicort, before needing to go on to seretide, because it didnt work. I havent told me GP I am just so shocked by my eyes and scared.feels like a no win situ DT
Hi again,
I'd have eyes checked out plus mention to GP too. Optician at Vision Express confirmed pred could affect eyesight.
I'd perfect sight until my 20s when I started noticing sight deteriorating to the point where I needed to wear glasses all the time. Bit of a shock back then, cos no-one else in our family needed specs.
