hey, I have had asthma all my life i am on long term prednisolone of 40mg a day i have the green and brown inhaler which i have to take 8 puffs in total a day i have had 6 admissions this year to hospital being described as the worst case they have seen. I am allergi to theophyllin and my specialist has gone away to ""read up"" on what to do next, i was wondering if anyone on here knows anything about asthmatic operations or anything like that i have my own nebuliser and im only 21 i love being out and about but have now pretty much become housebound. If anyone knows of any medication or long term soloutions i would like to hear from you. I also take montelukast each day

Some of the newer treatments include xolair and broncho-thermoplasty... Some of the older treatments include subcut ventolin and bricanyl etc, immunosurpressants such as mycophenylate, alvesco and sprivia can also be helpful...

Hello, welcome to the forum!Snap on being 21! Sorry your having a totally rubbish time tho... There's quite a few people on here who suffer with severe asthma and who bounce in and out of hospital so hopefully you will find some support.Which hospital do you go to? If your consultant is struggling on what to do with you next it might be worth getting him/her to refer you to a specialist difficult asthma clinic. The main two are at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London and Birmingham Heartlands hospital, they are very good with complex and severe cases of asthma and are often more happy to try things which a normal resp con wouldn't. Hi not sure if it helps but I decided against long term pred and went for the bricanyl infusion which has helped loads even though i still use my nebs, inhalers and tablets. Next step is xolair which i have been told you need to meet a specific criteria as it is so expensive.
