Does anybody use nebulised steroids? I have just been told that this is my next probable treatment option and wondered if there were any side effects etc. Would this be instead of Seretide or as well as?
Any info greatly received!

Hi Gloomyeeyore
I have been Nebbing flixitide since January and had no problems as well as pulmicort and oxis and prednisilone every day I had the shakes for the first few weeks with the flixitide but was on a lot of meds at the time because i was put on it while in hospital but now i have no side affects at all
hope all goes well for you
I've been on them for a while now, the only thing to remember is that you need to either use a mouth piece or wash your face after use as it can irritate the skin.
Just to throw a spanner in the works, do you know there is actually no evidence to support that nebbed steriods are of anymore benefit than inhaled? just wondered what the thoughts were of those on them?

Hi
I have tried in the past, both Flixotide and Pulmicort nebs. No real benefit at all.
A) you have to neb them so takes up 5 mins twice a day
B) can get same amount more or less from inhalers - I use seretide MDI but then top up with flixotide MDI if needed.
Sarah, you would still need to take the salmeterol ( serevent - green inhaler) component of Seretide.
I would suggest you could ask about a flixotide MDI add on so you don't over do the serevent bit of the seretide inhaler instead of nebs??
Kate
I've just got changed to flixotide and serevent separates so that i can have a higher dose of inhaled steroids, doesn't seem to be working yet but keeping my fingers crossed!
