Is anybody else's child/ or anybody else on here tried this?

If so what sort of reactions have you had/has it worked?

Was told today it is a possibility for my daughter and was just looking for some advice

Hi Ally,

I started xolair two weeks ago and so for have not had anyside effects from it. I have not noticed any difference in my asthma as yet, but have been told that it may take a few months before I notice any improvement. I have heard that it has improved asthma symptoms in those that have tried it. Please feel free to PM me if you want to know anymore.

There's good information at the drug company website, xolair.com - although be aware that this information is largely aimed at adults, and that it states that it is only for use in children over twelve.

I don't know how old your daughter is, but it *can* be used as an unlicensed treatment in under twelves, it's just that a lot of doctors would be a bit reluctant to do so, as the side effects are not well known in a younger group of patients.

There's no particular reason to think that younger people should react in a worse way to it, though - and the side effects seem pretty mild in most people.

I'm not on it myself, but speaking to others who have had it, headache and nausea/vomiting on the day of the injection seem to be the most common things, and these can be relatively easily prevented or treated.
