Once again the site was down with no warning once again it was during a bank holiday and no-one was able to get it up and running again. I hope AUK are having long talks with whoever creates/looks after/hosts the site.

where did AUK go
Hi Bex,
Thanks for the post. Sorry you had trouble accessing the site over the weekend, we realise it must be frustrating as a regular forum user
However, rest assured we are definitely looking into this and are working with our IT department in trying to find a solution.
Any questions, just shout or email us at webeditor@asthma.org.uk

AUK host the site internally to save costs - and remember that this is a free board that their fundraising efforts pay for, so that we have somewhere for discussion and support.
I think AUK deserve to be congratulated for providing such a thriving facility rather than vilified if it happens to break on a Bank Holiday weekend!
Sorry did not realise that. Thank you to all the people who keep the site running 24/7 and sorry for any offence caused. Forgive me please.
So why don't we turn this into a celebration of the site and the efforts of its great team to keep it going, by suggesting places where it could have gone. I would like to start by suggesting:-
Snorkelling in the Maldives,
(Which is where one of colleagues at work has just come back from today. He is unable to explain the lure back into the office.)
Where would you like to think the site went for the weekend?
Alan
You don't realise what you've got, till its gone
Perhaps the site needs a wee holiday now and then. Does some sterling work keeping our spirits up and introducing a great bunch of people.
I see our laidback pages trundling down to Cornwall in a VW camper, psychedelic paint finish with surf boards on the roof.
Thanks for being so supportive and for making us laugh with 'where did AUK website go over the weekend' - we were at the Asthma UK 10K at Dorney Lake by the way
Also, just a quick note to say our web hosting company will be running diagnostic tests tomorrow morning from 3-5am to try and find out the reason for all the shutdowns. During this time the website will be unavailable.
Any questions, just shout or email us at webeditor@asthma.org.uk

On Saturday, some of the site was running around a lake. The rest was watching it.
We lost sight of it after it went for a fish finger sandwich at ""The Pineapple"", possibly the best pub near to a rowing lake in the UK!
There were rumours that AUK was seen with a bevvy of ""stunnas"" in Stringfellows at the weekend !!
what's the problem with a day or two, i've only just got my internet like 10mins ago since loosing it 11 days ago. Damn i hate Tiscali customer services, Indian call centre staff, just hate them, if only I could understand what they say even half the time would be nice.
I feel your pain, woody. We have Tiscali as our ISP, and although I've only ever had two problems with them, on both occasions I've had to call customer services I've struggled to make myself understood.
The main problem appears to be that the staff aren't in any way trained to deal with problems. All they can do is look up what your problem is on their computer and parrot off the response they get (AOL's customer service is just as bad in this regard). The fact that I repair PCs for a living counts for nothing, as they still insist that I go through every step their computer says I should before coming to the same conclusion as I already had, and passing me on to someone who knows what I'm talking about!
Peaksteve , glad I'm not the only one who gets treated like a 5 year old. I specd and built the PC i'm using from scratch so, like you know more than the monkey at the other end of the phone. Trouble is, they usually tell you to reinstall the modem, how if you don't have a disc with software on? after using them for 3 years, and swap USB ports, doesn't seem to make much difference if you tell them you've done this, and in my case I can roll the whole PC back using disc cloning, so this would prevent the need from re-installing software, they then go blank when you tell them that.
