My clever dog finding my inhaler

Hi, I just wanted to show my video of my jack russell, Jess. I've trained her to find my inhaler when I start coughing. you never know, I may need her help one day.

Aww - but I have to admit I found the laundry one funny - the two cats look totally bemused, and I'm sure the hairless one at one point tries to trip the dog up!

Currently know of a Poodle who is being trained as a medical dog for her owner who is a Brittle Asthmatic, perhaps you should train your Jack Russell under the same guide lines then she could become your medical dog. The training is intense but well worth the effort, the dog I know off responses to changes in her owner before the owner is even aware that something is amiss!

Great to see more dogs potentially saving lives. This is exactly how I started off with my Poodle Chica. I thought it would be fun to teach her to find my inhaler & it all sort of progressed from there. Katinas right, if your dog is suitable then you could try going down the route of an Assistance dog/medical Alert dog. My dog will fetch my Inhaler, mobile phone, Epi-pen & also go & ring a bell to fetch help from someone downstairs on a verbal &/or hand signal only command.

Thanks for all your comments. It's really encouraging, sometimes I think I'm a bit daft training her to do things It started off as just a bit of fun with my inhaler, she loved searching for it, and then I thought, maybe I should encourage it. I have only just realised, that she won't do it for anyone else. I've had friends round that start coughing just to test her. Maybe I should look into training her as a medical Alert dog, she would love it. How do you go about it?

I think an asthma assistance dog is a very good idea. Jess is really cute. x
