was just thinking that sometimes there are times were we cant do much after an attack and it can be boring just watching tv all day. So i thought we can do a list of hobbies that we can do and enjoy with out setting our asthma off that others might enjoy. So any hobbies that we can enjoy.

So mine is jewllery making

Reading - preference is for a good book but if I've run out of those anything will do. I've read some real dross in my time!

Also, I've recently been trying to write down what I can remember of my early life - not because I think it's likely to make fascinating reading but because I'm trying to find things that my mother, who has dementia, might remember and react to. I've dredged up all sorts of forgotten memories but the more I do, the more I want to make sure I''m getting it right and I've found myself online (thank heavens for Google!) checking up on half remembered facts from the late 50s and early 60s. Some of it is fascinating reading, with the only problem being that it often triggers more halfl memories which lead to more research ....... Anyway some of it strikes a chord with Mum and I'm able to come home with the feeling that all my ferreting about has done some good.

Annista - the Wikipedia trap? ;) I once gave myself freaky dreams after too much Wikipedia lol

Re hobbies - I'm always attached to a book, usually have a couple on the go at once, 1 non-fiction and 1 fiction. I barely even think of it as a hobby now, I think it's more like a drug habit (though a more culturally acceptable and safe one, plus drug addicts find it harder to get a free supply of drugs from their local council - mind you, with library cuts...).

Also play the cello, though I now realise that takes more energy than I thought and sometimes I have to stop as I'm out of breath, so not best for when really knackered. Same goes for singing, trying to keep it up and stay with my choir and not always easy, though I find if have enough breath to start and can get past the coughing it actually helps me breathe more easily, must be the control required.

Philomena, you are SO right about Wikipedia - the second you get on there you're faced with dozens of links and have to follow them all and then they all have links ..........

My children always were always very well behaved in the mornings because they said that i was dead grumpy before I got my fix (a cup of tea and a read of my book), so you're not alone in feeling that books are a drug. I used to have to hide them because my ex-husband didn't like me reading, so I'd have one in the dirty linen basked, one in the cupboard under the sink and one under my side of the bed and I'd deviously sneak off for a quick read while he thought I was doing housework.

We have a photographic club near to me and I've been considering joining that - It might be nice to learn to do something more with my camera than just take the usual snaps.

Reading definitely - always have my nose in a book.

I play clarinet, saxophone, although at the minute I'm struggling with that as breathless all the time. I love gardening but again that's an issue as can't go outside for very long due to pollen and weather affecting my asthma.

Cross stitch is a passion and have recently started making handmade and stitched wedding invitations which I'm slowly turning into a business (fingers crossed).

Another hobby I enjoy is family history. A few years ago I went through a lot of old family photos with my mother noting down what she said about dates and who people were. I borrowed and copied the photos and put them in a photo album. Now family history is even easier with all the online databases. I find it very absorbing.

I crochet and for years it was my main hobby, but my eyesight deteriorated and I couldn't focus on a pattern and the work using the same pair of glasses so I gave it up and got rid of all my patterns and crochet hooks. However, I've recently got to the stage where my optition will let me have varifocal lenses and I made some lovely stuff when the grandchildren were on their way but sadly I can't seem to find patterns for adults any more.

Do sleeping & eating count as hobbies? I am very good at them both! : )

i seem to spend a lot of time watching live in commons or bbc news but i enjoy jigsaws or puzzle books. I also enjoy arts and crafts, baking and cooking, admin task. Although at the moment i am researching christianity, the history of christianity and history of churches and cathedrals.

i have good day hobbies and playing on the wii is one. At the moment i like playing the sims or doing cross stitch.

Catching up on favourite books I first read long ago. Some of them were my grandparents and now out of print. Thank goodness so many are available in digital form.

When I'm feeling ill or recovering from an attack I like to catch up on my reading. Authors such as Anne Rice, Robert A Heinlein or James Patterson.
