Relegation looms!

Hi everyone,

My favourite football club is lurking dangerously near the relegation zone in the Championship - Hull City.

How is everyone else's team doing? Please post a reply even if you are not a footie fan. I am a newbie and buddiless. Thank u xx

The Mighty Plymouth Argyle are going for mid table security oh and we are in the last 8 of the FA cup. If I have to spend the next week in bed to ensure I am there I will.

Greeeeeeeeeeeeeeen Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrmy

Ollie Ollie Ollie Ollie give us a wave :)

Bex

Merseysides REAL team are poised for the heady ""glory"" of 6th place-Everton that is,and I shall be wending my way to Goodison next week for the Arsenal game-respect to all footie fans out there-I know Bex is dreaming of a visit to Wembley(if its ready of course!!)

Bluejam.

-dont worry about relegation, weve had a few close escapes in the last 10 years or so-keeps your interest going, good luck!!

I'm a Man Utd fan - currently top of the table and with lots of luck hopefully going to get the triple.

The top team most local to home and work is West Ham - they too are looking at relegation.

With 11 games remaining The Rams – Derby County – look set for promotion, even if they did come down to earth for a bit of a bump against The Pilgrims - Plymouth Argyle - ‘cos of a few harsh refereeing decisions.

Go go go Billy Davies and the rest of my home team! Yay!

Mia

Friendly football banter warning

It had nothing to do with harsh refeering,, I was there and saw it all :) Argyle played their skins out and Derby did not. I seem to recall we smashed the Rams 3-0 at home earlier in the season and got a man sent off, just admit it there are some teams that are just better than yours :)

Bex

Anyone think that Charlton can escape relegation from the Premiership?

Assuming that West Ham and Watford are doomed (and they surely are), can Charlton overtake the freefalling Man City, or is it too late?

I reckon that the current bottom three will be the three that go down.

Charlton over the last few years have been a pretty solid team but since Curbishley left ,they just seemed to have dropped a notch-but as you say Steve ,City are looking pretty uninspired at the mo,so I think Charlton do still have a chance!!

Bluejam.

Its only a game, NOT!

Hull City are playing tonight against Ipswich, and we sooooo need a win! Come on u Hull! Its only goal difference that is keeping us out of the dreaded drop zone down. Oh well its only a game, lol. Good luck to anyone else whose team is playing tonight unless its Leeds, Southend, Barnsley or QPR!

Splutter splutter only a game, only a game!!!!!!!!!!!

Bex

Ah well at least none of you are Torquay supporters...

Bex

One nil to Norwich atm!

Aaaagh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't lose yur nerve beloved Rams!

Mia

PS Am qual. MA etc in English. PLEASE excuse - no FORGIVE - grammEr..............

We are drawing with Sheff Wed they scored after fouling our goalie and leaving him on the floor needing treatment. Dirty Northern Barstewards.

Bex

Oh my word, the Tigers have not only not roared, they have miaowed and rolled over on their backs! We have just lost 5.2, am gutted, bye bye to the Championship NO NO! Saturday is another day... If all the other teams lose maybe just maybe we can pull back. Come on u Hull! Boo hoo

There's one Torquay supporter here. I normally wouldn't admit to it but that's life.

Oh dear Andyk, next season will be your season, Torquay will come good and get automatic promotion... Mia, Billy Davies is a cracking manager i wanted him to come to Hull you are sooo lucky... The Rams are going up! The Tigers are miaowing and saying bye bye to the Championship, but in the wrong direction.

AndyK, like most Argyle fans I have a real soft spot for Torquay, I really want them to stay up but I have a bad feeling that so far adrift it is going to be a tall order. I remember the year we were promoted to the championship there was a huge cheer than rang around Home Park when we heard you too had gained promotion. Everything crossed for a better result on saturday.

Bex

Lois you started a cracking thread….

Billy Davies is the best manager – in recent years – since Jim Smith, who got us – the Rams – to the premier league, -96 -97 debut.

(Can still remember an act of true love, when I sat with DOH in HOME stadium and with ‘away’ fans - whilst watching DOH’s beloved Lancastrian team, - motto ‘Arte et Labore’ – thrash beloved Rams.)

By the way does anyone else have a ‘darling other half’ -DOH for short – who supports an opposing footie team?

However, must keep calm but…

The Rams are on top again. And those Pilgrims are languishing… But only ‘friendly football banter…’

Yay!

We've got Wycombe today and Mike Bateson has taken charge again. Hopefully we will win. 6 points adrift but we have to start winning. Good luck to everyone whose teams are in trouble.

My mum, Lois is in hospital with her asthma but at least Hull won on saturday and a win tonight would cheer her up! I want her to come home! Anna

Out of the relegation zone! But for how long.....

Yes! We are, for now at least, OUT OF THE ZONE! I just spent a week in hospital and missed 2 cracking matches, even Torquay won... Pleased about that Andyk. Haven't seen the other results yet as only just out, Mia hope the Rams win tommorow, Bex oh dear, too soon for words? Everyone else, unless you are a Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Leeds or Barnsley fan hope you win tommorow.

Well we lost on Saturday. I have lost count of how many times opposing teams have scored against us in the last minute. We're now 9 points adrift but hope is not lost (optimistic to the end). We'll be up there on the last day come rain or shine. As we sing 'You are my only Torquay, my only Torquay, you make me happy when skies are grey' etc. We may pass Exeter yet.

OOPS andy looks loke your teams alround not having much luck hey?

sorry couldnt resist!!

come on the wire

Oh dear Andyk, sorry your team lost, my team lost too and we also had a goal scored against us in the last min. It always seems worse when its near the end... Never mind hope springs eternal COME ON TORQUAY YOU CAN DO IT! Hope you win your next match, hang on in there Torquay!

We lost against Accrington Stanley on Saturday with yet another last minute goal but the good news is that we have David Graham back on loan and he has played for us before. Com on you Gulls!

SCOTLAND *** SCOTLAND *** SCOTLAND *** SCOTLAND

SCOTLAND *** SCOTLAND *** SCOTLAND *** SCOTLAND

SCOTLAND *** SCOTLAND *** SCOTLAND *** SCOTLAND

David Graham is excellent news for you. He could be key in your survial. At one point I thought he might end up at Argyle. Ipswich for us tomorrow.

Hugs

No luck today either. A 77th minute goal against us and we're still 9 points adrift. 21 to play for and it's going to be interesting again. Hope all your teams won today.

Hi Bex, hope da gulls soared today. Oh dear Andyk, Torquay were so unlucky, did David Graham play today? COME ON TORQUAY! Have u got a mid week match? Hull don't play till next Sat, we are still lurking dangerously near da relagation zone. Bluejam says it makes the season more interesting, which it does as long as we don't get relegated, come on u Hull!

Deek hope you have checked the lining of your tartan wig for latax, hope Scotland the brave triumph! Used to live in Carlisle on the borders of Scotland, so like to think i have a wee bit of Scottish blood in me! Take good care, hope everones team won, Lois

Lois, the Gulls are Torquay aka Plymouth Argyle reserves. The mightly Plymouth Argyle did not play today we had a break cos of international matches, our nick name is the Pilgrims. Poor Torquay I suspect they are beyond saving now :( Lets just hope that Exeter that don't come up though I really really don't like them.

Bex

Seventh-choice Steve's mob couldn't even score against Israel. Bet he's still got that bloody smug smile on his face, though >:(

Whoops sorry Bex, confusing the Mighty Green Army with a team at the lower end of the spectrum is almost as bad as saying its only a game, LOL. Sorry about that, hope you win next Sat, Hull didn't play today either cos of internationals. Hope u okay, come on the Pilgrims!

Our next game is next Saturday. We have to wait till then.

OK we won today. 7 points from safety with a few games left. We might escape again.

Hey well done Torquay, you won! Yippee only your first win in 31 games but u did it! You could still stay up now Andyk. Hull won 4.0!!!!!!!!!! am soooooooo happy but we are still not safe even though for now we are out of the relegation zone cos we have some hard matches coming up. Oh dear, COME ON U HULL!

Bex u were robbed! The quickest sending off in the history of the not so mighty Plymouth.... am sure its just a temporary blip.

Mia a cracking win! Your top of the league!

Hope everyone elses team won, Lois

I was all snuggled up on the sofa with a cup of tea ready to listen Argyle heard the sending off and them scoring the 1st 2 goals the I fell asleep for the remaining 75 minutes :)

Well done the Gulls on finally getting the last minute goal into the right net!

Hugs

Bex

Hey Bex maybe it was just as well u fell asleep judging by da score, sleeping da way to be. Helped your stress levels anyway, at least you are not in the same scary place as Hull! Hope your lungs are behaving, take care, Lois

Oh dear Hull City lost 2.1 today, boo hoo - after our 4.0 win i had high hopes for today but we played badly today. Aaargh relegation looms! Come on u Hull ! Never mind maybe we will win on Mon, ouch flying pig just caught my head!

We've got games coming up against Walsall and Swindon - 2nd and 3rd. Walsall is tomorrow at home. Come on you yellows!

Well we lost 2 out of 2 Easter weekend and it's getting harder. Well done Dagenham for securing football league status.

Did anyone see Man U-Roma Last nite? 5-0

Yes...

...except it was 7-1

:-/

Hi Peaksteve, do you think Man City are safe yet? After Hull City they are my favourite team.

After their win at the weekend, it would take a complete disaster to see Man City drawn into the relegation battle. They've hit the magic 40-point mark and seem to be playing well at the moment.

I can't help but like Man City too, probably because Stuart Pearce is such a likeable manager.

In my humble opinion, Watford are down and Charton are playing well enough to be the most-safe of the bottom four. Sheffield United and Fulham are both in terrible runs of form at the moment so if things continue as they are West Ham could sneak out of the relegation zone - what price Watford, Sheffield United and Fulham going down?

OOPS!

I didn't see The end of it-I went to bed.Any Hat Tricks?

Oddly for a 7-1 scoreline, no. Ronaldo and Carrick both got two goals (Carrick's were both spectacular long-range efforts); Smith, Rooney and Evra were the other scorers.

andyk1

We're down. W'e'll be back. Good luck to everyone whose teams are still in trouble.

Oh dear Andyk sorry you got relegated, you'll be back though, straight back up. We are still in trouble and if the way we played today is anything to go by we'll be relegated too. We are only out of the zone cos of goal difference and the last 3 matches we have played really badly. Never mind there is always next season....

Apologies to PeakSteve for todays last minute winner-but it was a gem!!,if its any consolation you played pretty well!

Bluejam.

Yippeee! Despite having a goal disallowed (we were robbed) we scraped a draw and a very valuable point at Stoke. Only 2 more matches to go, not sure if my nerves can stand it, for once it was us getting a goal in injury time, instead of us throwing our game away. COME ON U HULL!

Just to clairfy, I'm not actually a Charlton fan. My support is confined to my own local non-league side, Halesowen Town - who won 4-0 yesterday, and now sit 5th in the Southern League Premier, and look set for a play-off place in our attempt to get promoted to the Conference South league. We are but three divisions away from league football!

I'm just a fan of good football, which I why I'm certainly rooting for Everton to finish above Bolton in the Premiership.

andyk1 profile image
andyk1

Thank you Peaksteve. I'm sure Bluejam appreciates your support as well.

Andyk

Lois, the general opinion is that for our last match of the season against Hull should it need a Hull to win for leeds to go down we (Argyle) will roll over and die. It is worthy cause :)

Bex

Im a dieeeeeeeeeeeee hard football fan and my fave team is Middlesbrough FC :) Ive supported them since the day i was a second old :) my dad couldnt wait to get me a kit and take me to the matches :D

but support Hartlepool FC and Glasgow Rangers FC :)

Boro 1 vs 1 Man Utd was a greaaaaaaat game but we should have won!! :(

Man utd are cheats and ronaldo is a diverrrrr! =) thats my opinion :D haha!!

Man utd are cheats and ronaldo is a diverrrrr!""

That may well be true, but the reason you didn't win (or at least get a chance to) is surely down to the ref chickening out of giving the clear-cut penalty you should have won in injury time.

I used to be a total ABU, but now I'd rather anyone won the Premiership except Chelsea, a team with all the soul of a paving slab.

Yeh i agree....

we deserved the win as it was a penalty....

but we got a point and thats better than losing 1-0 if it wasnt for mark viduka...

I want chelsea to win the title but i think its not fair that its only the ""big"" teams that win it and other team havent got the chance as they are labelled ""small"" teams......

To Peaksteve,

sorry for the mix-up as regards Charlton and thanks for the goodwill re finishing above Bolton-2 ofour last 3 games are against Man U and Chelski so Im not too optomistic.

As regards tonights Man U and Milan game, despite his defection ,I still harbour ""sympathy"" towards Rooney and as long as he doesnt score against us,I will wish him well ( this opinion is not shared by anyone on the Everton webzines I should point out!!!)

-xsmoggie-you WERE robbed of that late pen!!

Yeh we were robbed!!!

hope we can beat Tottenham, Wigan nd Fulham in the last 3 games to break into the top 10 :)

Chelsea for the title too!

You really should manage a result against Wigan and Fulham. Spurs will be a harder prospect but, if Yakubu and Viduka are on song, are beatable.

Hey Lois, in a recent internet poll 63% of Argyle fans would not be unhappy if we ""lost"" to Hull on the last match of the season if it meant Leeds went down :)

Bex

Thanks Bex, am so hoping that Leeds go down and not us, we soooo need a win tommorow or a least a draw and for Leeds to lose, as there is only one point between us and Leeds. Think this season has to be the most stressful ever!

Thanks Bex, am so hoping that Leeds go down and not us, we soooo need a win tommorow or a least a draw and for Leeds to lose, as there is only one point between us and Leeds. Think this season has to be the most stressful ever!

Lois, well done on your win. Suspect there will be nice tame draw with you next weekend.

Bex

YES! yippeee, relegation no longer looms (for this season at least!). What a tense afternoon, Leeds were winning 1.0 and we were 0.0 but not playing so well. Then we got a goal, but Leeds had a pitch invasion so we had to wait in case they scored in the extra time!

I can't believe it! We're staying up, we're staying up! YIPPEEE! Huge relief, we couldn't go to the match because my husband is a headteacher and he had his Ofsted inspection this week. So we had to listen on the car radio, it was very nerve racking but we did it! and Ke got a really good Ofsted too, have just been out for a very yummy meal to celebrate. How are we going to manage 2 and a bit months with no footie... roll on August

Lois, much as I hate to burst your bubble , if Leeds win 5-0 on Saturday and we beat you 5-0 then Leeds stay up. However I think that is most unlikely :)

Bex

Man Utd Just got beaten 1-0 By West Ham!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WE ARE MOST CERTAINLY NOT AMUSED!

Strange, because I find the team that was bottom of the Premiership at Christmas managing a miracle escape from relegation by beating the champions really very amusing indeed!

I imagine it's less funny if you're a Sheffield United fan, though. Back down the thread I seem to remember saying ""what price Watford, Sheffield United and Fulham going down?"" Two-out-of-three ain't bad, as Meat Loaf once said. And if Chris Coleman had remained in charge of Fulham I'd probably have been right!

Fair play to Wigan, I suppose. They don't deserve to be in the Premiership (their form in the second half of the season has been absolutely dire) but when push came to shove in the last match of the season, they pulled out a vital win.

So; who will be joining Birmingham and Sunderland in promotion from the Championship? There's a 75% chance of it being another Midlands club.

Hey Mia congratulations! - the rams have done it! well done, hope you enjoyed the match. I like Billy Davies, he's rather yummy - when he was at Preston they had a Billy Davies day and everyone was given and wore Billy Davies masks, mmmm... He is a cracking manager too! Enjoy the Premiership Mia, love lois xx

Thanks Lois. xxx

I was in London on Monday although not at Wembly. Couldn’t get tickets, but watched the match in a pub somewhere in the depths of Covent Garden. The whole place just erupted when Stephen Pearson scored and the last ten minutes were nail biting, -still slightly hoarse - although not as much as during the penultimate game when Derby played So’ton at home. I was at that game and twas truly nerve racking when it reached penalty shoot out stage.( I’m the sort of person who covers face with hands and then squints through fingers to almost watch gory horror film bits!)

Looks as if we might get a ‘Billy Davies Way’ to go with ‘Brian Clough Way’ if Derby manage to hold on to Billy Davies. Fingers crossed! Yay!

Mia

Oh no, my beloved Hull City have been taken over! our chairman has sold all his shares and a business 'consortium' has taken over, so now our new chairman has vast media experience but zilch footie experience. Not only does he not know much about footie he is also a southerner, oh dear just when you think things can't get any worse....

Only 3 days till fixtures are out, Thursday 10AM.

When will THE MIGHTY GOLDEN BOYS of Sir Elton fame win the Championship. My guess is by March 16th.

Yes, but which year?

My guess is the second digit will be a ""1"".

Ah! Peaksteve, Adrian Boothroyd will beat Steve Copple's record in March 2008.
